Holmes isn't focused?! LOL. Both receivers are in contract years.....i'm pretty sure they're BOTH giving 110% week in and week out.
He's also a dumbass who makes one fuck up a game at minimum. Not a mental lapse, a fuck up. He had one that thankfully didn't cost us tonight and the mental lapse on the catch. Keeping both IS ideal, but Edwards is currently bigger for what we do.
What player was there for us in those 3 narrow wins we had this year. Who ran slant routes for us and got us in the playoffs against some pretty mediocre teams? Santonio fucking holmes thats who. He dropped a pass get over it.
Braylon is the more complete player. I like them both but if I only could keep one its definitely Edwards
That's laughable? Did you watch him on the punt return? We see shut like that every week. Jesus...get out of this thread before you embarrass yourself more. #1 Jets Fan looks smarter than you right now.
They're both giving 110% week in and week out....and Edwards has been a LOT more productive. Before this year, you want to say Holmes is better than Edwards? Fine. But Holmes is one drug issue or whatever from being suspended for a year. And he's had a ton of big drops this year. Edwards? Not so much. Miami and Green Bay, he completely let down the QB with some big drops. We lose today's game, you can add today to the ledger. Plus, he's also had two fumbles this year. And returning the punts, he's too damn lazy to get out of the way of the football. Are you kidding me? If that's focus, you have a different definition than I do.
His play from this last year to this year is night and day. He most have worked hard in the offseason bc he has improved as a receiver tenfold.
Cant base it off of one game. Holmes is the better player IMO. Out of the two he should be the first priority. Hopefully they can sign both though.
This really isn't about one play, at least for me. It's about who really watches football and who just follows the ball around.
I was on the Braylon bandwagon for a long time - and a game like the one tonight showcased why Braylon is such a better option than Santonio actually is. Look. I understand Santonio is a clutch player and all that. Now, look at the contribution that you cannot see on a stat sheet: the run blocking. Time and again, there were runs to the outside that were stuffed because Santonio either failed to block the CB off, or released him too early. (Maybe not tonight, but throughout the course of the season, Santonio fucked up enough running plays to blow up) Did Braylon do that? He again showed why he's more complete player as a WR, with his superior run blocking tonight. Frankly, I wouldn't mind Braylon and Cotchery lining up on I formation, as they are both extremely good at sealing the edge, and blocking the DBs out of plays. To a team whose identity is Ground-N'-Pound, Edwards-Cotchery combo fits the bill better than Edwards-Holmes combo - at least to my eyes.
I actually agree Holmes is the better receiver...for a pass first team. Edwards brings a lot more to the table for us.
embarrass myself? Holmes was clutch in the wins against the Lions and Browns....games we came close to losing. .
I've said this over and over again in past threads Braylon is our big guy, the one who can go up and make those catches. In our offense, he is the more important WR. I'd like to have both but if I had to choose one, I take Braylon
Agreed. Holmes is a better route runner. But he loses his focus all the damn time, and it's sickening. Braylon is a better blocker, a better deep threat, and has more reliable hands, believe it or not. Holmes is a nice player and has a world of talent. But it's not just one game. I've been pissed at Santonio every game this season. Granted, I was mad at Braylon when he seemed to get a 15-yard penalty every single game, but I'm just annoyed at being mad at Holmes every game for doing something stupid.
No, this has been a consistent point of discussion throughout the season. The OP may only be looking at this game, but I can assure you others are not. I like Holmes, especially off the slant. I just happen to watch more than the ball, especially on run plays.
I'm not going to argue about who the better run blocker is. it's clearly Braylon. Do you actually think for a moment that this team should'nt have more success tossing the ball around? This team with all of it's weapons should have a balanced pass and run attack. If we want to run, run , run the ball all game then of course Braylon is the wide out we should be retaining. But if the playcalling is where it should be and Sanchez can drop the ball where it should be dropped then there is no discussion as there are a ton of run blocking wideouts in this league that come alot cheaper than Braylon and few with the big play ability Holmes has.
