That's like being a kick returner and thinking about returning for a touchdown before you've even caught the ball yet. You have to take it one step at a time. Today we took one more step towards winning the division.

Learn a little bit about the game. Second to last in the league at defending the pass, no flow on offense, poor play-calling, and the inability to adjust at half-time....we did we even have a first down in the 4th quarter?

You're ignorant, period. You don't understand the game. You look at the score and don't know why plays work or don't work.....I have to be right, if not you are just drunk as fuck.

A win is not a win, sorry. Unless you want to make the playoffs and lose 40-10 on wildcard weekend, you need to learn to understand that there's more to this league that having more points at the end. Elite teams play elite every week, and the Jets have not played that was for 3 weeks. I personally don't think they played like an elite team against NE.

Sorry, but you can go through the week thinking the Jets earned a win today that was actually a lucky break, but I hope you are happy with a let-down in the next 2 weeks causing us to miss the playoffs, or an embarrassing playoff blowout that loses us Brett Favre and puts the team back in rebuilding.......

You have no idea how wrong you are, no clue, no fucking clue.

You mean the Colts that DIDN'T lose the the Lions, and the Colts that have won 8 in a row?

No, and you asked a stupid questions. Think a little bit.

No, you shut the hell up. The Jets played bad today and deserve to be criticized, regardless of coming away with a victory. Get off your high horse.

It seems like the same people who criticized the Jets for being a playoff team in 2006 because they only beat "bad" teams are the same ones finding every excuse on this planet to justify this team. Teams must be salivating at the prospect of playing this team potentially in the playoffs.

Imagine Favre against the Ravens or Steelers defense? LOL

Nahhh, I understand the game plenty well, I just also happen to enjoy when my team wins a game. I don't understand why you schmucks choose to torture yourself when there is something, no matter how small, to celebrate. Have fun being miserable, man, I hope that works out well for you. I prefer to be happy.

I won't speak for everyone else, but I don't think we're miserable. I'm happy we got this victory, but the defense, once our strong point, has been bad for 3 weeks now. We've been an inconsistent team all year. The kind of defense we played today won't win us any games in the playoffs. We played poorly and got lucky to come away with a victory. It very well could have gone the other way. The fans who have been critical are looking for a balanced effort for 60 minutes. We want to see a clean victory, especially against bad teams. That's what elite teams do. We want the Jets to be an elite team. So please stop attacking Jets fans who are critical of their team. You and your ilk have already been made to look like morons with your dumb thread after the Titans victory titled 'Eating crow yet?' or something. RFK said it's patriotic to criticize your own country when it deserves to be criticized. The same applies here. Stop defending the indefensible.

Haha. Very well put. I'd post in detail about how silly I think some of the people on this board are when it comes to their grim outlook on anything the Jets do (or stand to do in the near future) but I've had that argument one too many times on this message board. Obscenely negative and miserable Jet fans (sadly, the majority of Jet fans) will continue to be just that . . . obscenely negative and miserable.

The obscenely negative ones can get annoying, sure, but so can some of the sunshiners who week after week defend the Jets and attack fans who criticize them. The best fan finds a balance, like me. Do I think we're the worst team in the world? Of course not. But we got killed by Denver and San Fran (one being an average team, the other being pretty bad) and played extremely poorly vs a bad Buffalo team. We had high expectations after killing Tennessee and the team has deflated them with their below average play over the last 3 weeks. We have a right to be upset with the shit we're seeing.

Not to take it away from football but the reason you see this is a psychological difference about how people view the world, but I'll summarize in a football context.

Many see things in term of the big picture, if you fall into this group you already know the outcome of this season based on the total ineptness of this defense. So the fact that we won today is a moot point because the macro view tells you our ultimate destiny, which will be disappointment for another year. These type of fans tend to be older more tenured Jets fans who have seen all the ups and downs, more downs, and again think big picture - the SuperBowl - and just making the playoffs means nothing.

The other set of fans live for the day, take solace in the Win and that we are still in the hunt. Are clearly optimists and believe that any given day any team can win and so no matter what went wrong this week it can be corrected and anything is possible, just like the Giants last year.

    Pick your camp.

Exactly. The Dolphins scored 14 points total and the 49ers had the ball 1st and 10 at the Dolphins 20 with a minute left. And the 49ers blew it. I bet you anything if you go to a Dolphins board, they are happy they won even though it was "lucky" or whatever you want to call it.

Sure they're like "we could improve our offense" or whatever. But they were 1-15 last year, now their 9-5. They're happy.

We were 4-12. We're in FIRST place in the division, control our own destiny. And people are crying like babies. This fanbase is retarded.

Yeah, really. The NFL is a crapshoot. Watch like every game, and they're usually decided by like 5 points. This team has 9 wins. Rejoice! If we win 1 of the next 2, we get to 10 and likely get a playoff berth. Woohoo!!!!

Count me in with the 2nd set. The Giants were 9-5 last year heading into week 15. AFTER losing to the Redskins AT home in week 14. And won the Super Bowl.
