He should be fired immediately. That was not just a really bad mistake. He probably did it as a gift for Gruden so he gets hired by the Raiders next year. The guy is always scheming for his next job
Maybe I will feel like you in a couple days because I do want Trevor Lawrence. But that didn't sit right with me, it pissed me off a lot, possibly having the hated Raiders as a beneficiary adds to it
Yeah, I saw that. Unfortunately, coordinators are not required to meet with the press after a game, but it is standard for them to meet during the week. I wonder if he'll try to get out of that - mouthing a platitude like "I thought it gave us the best chance to prevent a touchdown" would be idiotically pointless at this point, and would lead to a barrage of nasty questions. I also completely agree with your characterization of him. The only thing that would complete the picture would be for him to meet with the press and end up holding up his hand and saying "I have a Super Bowl ring - do you?". The decision was completely indefensible if you're actually trying to win the game, as is already obvious by both the text and subtext of the reactions of the players after the game. I admit that my reaction was to laugh hysterically when it happened, but I do genuinely feel badly for the players, who are clearly still trying to win.
this is absolutely true. no we want to hire the coaches for you bs. what a horrible idea that whole bs was. no decent coach will come to an organization thats so stupid that they think that makes any sense.
Who knows if he even knew the playcall. Remember Gregg had full autonomy of the defense, who knows if Gase is even in on the defensive calls in general
Do I want to miss Lawrence, like the Knicks missed Steph Curry, by one pick, for a meaningless fucking win? Williams will go down as the most important coach in Jets history if we end up with Lawrence, and he delivers on his promise. I can’t find any reason to be angry about the call as a fan with the future of the team a greater concern than any individual game when we were already 0-11.
That he didn't know the playcall? I mean this has been an arrangement since last year so we shouldn't be surprised. We legit don't know if Gase knew what was being called. He said he wished he would have overruled it...then why didn't he? Again Gase could have called timeout there...is he even in on the defense calls?
Lighting one's career on fire on national TV is not likely to endear one to any fan base, let alone a new fan base in Vegas.
