Get real. You're talking about the National Felon League. Many guys before him did much worse and got second chances in the NFL. If the guy can make a difference off the edge and he comes cheap, that's all that matters.
Difference is those others have already been punished, his has yet to come down. The Saints took a massive cap hit in cutting him, do you think they would have done that with no reason behind it?
looks justified to me.....shoulda whacked da bitch a few more times for good measure. Sign the beast!
Probably not but the Jets have no downside to having him in for a workout and personal evaluation. If he avoids NFL suspension, or even gets 4-8 games, the team is getting a highly productive pass rusher the last 2 years for the late season push. If it's a long suspension, then they move in a different direction.
The poster that said the NFL is full of scumbags has the right idea. The Cowboys are better with Hardy..the Vikes are better with AP. And so on and so on. Gallette would be a huge upgrade for our pass rush. So if he can be had on a decent contract you sign him. Even if he has to miss some games. Personally Id still rather have Evan Mathis in here but Mac should always be looking to improve the team. Non guaranteed contract with some incentives cant hurt. If he messes up he's gone type of deal.
I would rather they not have a player like him on the team. I don't expect to all players on the team to be Dudley Doright but I would have a problem with them bringing him in, not just because of what he did but also it seem quite a few Saints players had a problem with him. I don't think the team needs anyone in the locker room that is going to cause trouble.
This +1. New administration, new coaching staff, new roster additions as well as re-additions (CBs) equals lots of pieces for Coach Todd and his new staff having to put into place without having to deal with even the potential of a locker room cancer persona. p.s. nice sig *smirk*
Maybe to you, but not to many of us. We want players and a team we can be proud of, not a bunch of thugs. We're not willing to sell our souls to win. Sorry that you are.
Exactly, many don't calculate the negative effect a player can have on multiple other players. With Galette I think that negative effect would more than cancel out any positive effect he would have on the field. Pulled up the sig while perusing the old Trash Talking forum. There are some gems in there.
Instead of apologizing, he bashes his teammates and his coach? I'll pass. http://www.complex.com/sports/2015/07/junior-galette-goes-ballistic-on-new-orleans-saints-on-twitter?utm_campaign=complexmag+socialflow+07+2015&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social
its. not. worth. it. For real people? unrepentant, no sense of personal responsibility, a liability in the locker room he was supposed to lead. this isn't the guy we need, his immaturities supersede his on field talent. I'd rather keep the assets we have. Example of a time to take a risk? Erin Henderson: fucked up, two DUI's and then…took responsibility, got better, did what he had to to get a second chance. didn't bury anybody on the way, grateful for a second chance. its that ability to own up to your shit that counts.
The dude was insulting lots of former teammates on Twitter. He claimed one of the o-linemen was cheated on by his wife, that Drew Brees's arm is diminishing, saying awful things about his former head coach and random teammates. He sounds really unstable, and not someone I would want the Jets to sign. He'd have to be really problematic for the Saints to cut him and take that kind of a salary cap hit.
For the Saints to cut him they must really have thought he was bad news some way or another. 22 sacks in 2 years.
He'll sign with the Pats and we will hear how that team has a great veteran presence and how it's the only team that'll keep him in line blah blah blah....
