Go after Gordon pleaseeee, Holmes will prob be gone next season and Gordon, Hill, Kerley and whoever we draft will make a great YOUNG receiving corps we can build around for years.

I just posted this in the other thread-

Im hearing/reading that the Browns could be looking for a high draft pick.

Im just going to go out there and say that Gordon is an extremely talented WR, and has a similar skill set to Julio Jones. He is a legitimate #1 WR. If you add him with this group, I think we could actually make a push for the playoff.

The way I look at it, outside of Lee and Watkins, Id say Gordon would be the best WR in this class. You know his skills translate to the NFL. If he can just mature (he actually doesnt sound like an idiot when you listen to him), then he can be a top 10 WR in this league. Next year we are likely going to spend a 1st or 2nd round pick on a WR. If we can spend our 2 3rd round picks on a proven stud in the making, why not? He actually may be more valuable to a team than Trent Richardson, if he develops even more.

Im just saying, a WR group of Gordon - Holmes - Hill - Kerley is pretty damn good. You add a TE in the offseason and you have a nice group of skill players around a promising TE. Also, please dont let yesterday's performance trick you into thinking we dont need help at WR. Holmes isnt a long term solution, and Hill is still developing (I personally dont see him as more than a #2). IMO, we still need a long term #1- Josh Gordon fits that 100%. Plus, If he doesnt cost a 1st, he will likely come at less of a price than current #1's.

The Jets might inquire, but I doubt they offer up enough for what the Browns would want.

He already is a #1. IMO, if you look at Julio Jones, and then look at Josh Gordon, they are pretty damn similar. Not only in their measurables (6'3 225 4.40 40), but also the way they play.

If he develops more, and stays out of trouble, I think he has that type of upside... and look at what the Falcons gave up for him.

I'd trade a 3rd round pick for Gordon in a heartbeat. Another young, explosive receiver to pair with Hill is gonna be needed. Holmes will be cut after this year. As much as I like him he isnt worth that salary. He could always be brought back at a reduced rate but who knows.

Gordon, Hill, with Kerley in the slot would be a very strong group of young receivers to build with going forward.

Idzik should consider Gordon, then realize he will come at too high of a price.

When looking into acquiring highly skilled players with off field/character issues, ideally you buy low to acquire them and only hold onto them for 2 years. First year they want to prove they arent crazy, second year they are motivated for a big contract. This is when you bail cause the crazy is coming back soon enough. What you DON'T do is what the Jets did with Santonio after 2 years, give him a huge contract and hope it works out.

Being that Gordon has this year plus 2 more on his contract I would pass. No way dude holds out 3 years without f'ing up.

Bad idea...if we trade for Gordon we'll need Holmes to teach him how to pass a drug test....Holmes is the biggest pot head in the NFL

eidt: Isn't Holmes himself one failed drug test from a 1 year ban? Wasn't he banned the first 4 games of his Jets career? Holmes has this shit figured out.

Gordon is a top flight talent and is the #1 this team lacks. The draft is crapshoot and even when you hit it right on a receiver, it takes 2-3 years for that receiver to develop into a valuable player. Gordon is at the top of his game now. The Jets would be foolish not to give up a 3rd and a 4th or 5th for him.

    Exactly.

This team was willing to drop the #9 on Tavon Austin (and I was completely for that). Josh Gordon is a better player than Austin is now, and has a higher ceiling. Gordon is a legitimate #1 WR, while Austin is an "offensive weapon" if you will. #1 WRs are hard to come by and are extremely valuable.

Its confusing when people say they would never give up more than a 4th for Gordon, yet probably would have been happy with drafting Tavon in the 1st. Granted, Gordon does have his off the field concerns, but IMO he's worth the risk. As you said, draft picks tend to be crapshots (just look at Kyle Wilson, Shonn Greene, Vernon Gholston ect). Sometimes people overvalue draft picks too much, and thats coming from someone who loves the draft and spends a lot of time studying it.

I would go so far as to give up both of our 3rd for Gordon, or even our 2nd. Its worth it for a player thats on the verge of being a stud.

i'd trade a 3rd or even a 2nd round pick for him. people value draft picks like their gold, but i'd rather have a proven commodity then take a risk on someone that might not be as good

Do not trade any draft picks unless the position has absolutely fallen apart.

5th rounder is all I'd do, maybe a 4th, but 5th is what I'm confident in the most Id offer..he's one failed drug test from a years vacation...not wroth more than a 5th for that reason.
