I think if Marshall was the player the Jets ended up trading for, they'd have to have a deal in place before the trade is made which includes good behavior clauses for Marshall.
As someone said earlier, Chucky hinted that we are about to make a major move. After the way the Ravens were stacking the box like they did yesterday, we need a guy like Brandon Marshall to keep them honest. Our running backs did great anyway but it would help Dirty allot to have a big threat at WR. I don't like Brandon Marshall's baggage but we need him.
Which means that even if we were in negotiations with Denver for him at this very moment, which we are most assuredly not, it would probably take a week or more to get the trade done. At this point, we'd be lucky to get the guy into the lineup for week 1.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_y...?slug=jc-directsnap082509&prov=yhoo&type=lgns That one about sums up why no one wants Marvin Harrison. Problem teamate, Diva, and lsot a big step last year. He's done.
How is it that you know that we are not in negotiations w/dnvr? i mean for all you know tannenbaum is talking to xanders right now.
I'm not denying the fact that the team definitely needs a big-time WR, but I don't think Marshall is the answer. As many have pointed out, his off the field problems are too much. It also appears that he's not a great TEAM player. I don't think that his presence would benefit a rookie QB. I don't think anyone benefits from a guy like TO who is always passing the buck and getting into arguments when he doesn't get the ball enough. Honestly, I think someone like Dwayne Bowe would be a fine fit, not to mention he would cost less. My personal priorities are Leon and Mangold. I know that next year may be uncapped, but they need to lock these guys up. Last night, once again, Leon showed that he is, BY FAR, the best player on our roster. He does a little bit of everything.
Wasn't there multiple reports last week that we have already had discussions with Denver and KC? I swear I read them.
I'd like the see some links if that were the case. The only rumor I heard was that we might be talking to the Seahawks and it was a flimsy rumor.

Everything ever printed is a rumor until it happens. All it says is they have talked to them about Marshall. ESPN has said the same thing. Nobody has said a trade is imminent.
If Cimini got the scoop, great - it would probably be the first time in years he broke anything meaningful. But you made it sound like there were multiple sources reporting the rumor. There was one single article being referenced by all of the 'reports'.
I may have said that. What I remembered is reading many different articles on it but as they may have all been abbreviated versions of the same thing I didn't really notice. It was even reported in one of the Denver papers but I don't know if they were quoting Cimini or not. Maybe.
Thanks for posting those links Don. The Broncos forum is hilarious. I thought we were nuts but those guys are seriously thinking we'd trade Leon/Rhodes/Harris/Revis/Jenkins or 2 First Rndrs for their disgruntled girlfriend beating falling through televisions Dui guy w/a bad hip. PUHLEEEEZE.
Yes!! and even some of them were having trouble getting open. Cant be sitting that long in the pocket, especially against a defense like that.
Matt Jones isn't the cure he's tusson. To me it's Brandon Marshall or Braylon Edwards, though it looks unlikely the latter will be traded at this point. I definitely DO NOT want to give up a 1st rd pick for Dwayne Bowe. He's good but not that much better than Cotchery. Marshall for all his baggage is an elite WR with back to back 100 catch seasons and will completely change our offense the way Plaxico Burress affected the Giants offense. It will be like day and night because the ripple effect will be tremendous on our depth chart.
