No, not unless Rex has truly tempered his mouth and actions, and learned how to adapt/adjust his D to the strengths of his players, rather than trying to force them into roles for which they aren't suitable, and has learned how to better scheme for opponents and make adjustments on the fly.
There's a reason why Rex isn't a coach in this league anymore and it has nothing to do with his age and everything to do with his acumen. He was always a poor head coach that over achieved with talented players. Once those players were gone, that was all she wrote for Rex.
loved rex when he first came but even I as a fan boy i could see that it was time to move on - though I would have loved to have seen what we could have done with rex and an experienced top 15 QB
The last loss to Buffalo was terrible, Orton wasn't picked off the street but the Bills couldn't practice that week because of the blizzard. Rex was way better than Bowles, but he had to go and there's no way I want him back.
Should have kept Mr T and not hired Idzik and maybe they would have pulled it together. The John Idzik hire set the franchise back 8 years...now Bowles looks to set the franchise back a solid 20 years.
Yeah ... clueless. But somehow he got us into the playoffs 60% of the time. The Jets coach that got us there more often was who? Nobody. No Jets coach made the playoffs more frequently. I understand how he might have driven you nuts, but there was no question he was successful here And for the record he also took KC to the playoffs after he left here. That's 4 playoff appearances in his first 6 years as a head coach.
Man...people quickly forget how bad Rex's team was at the end of his tenure because of how atrocious Bowles has been. They are both trash and not right for this team right now. We need an offensive mind in here for Darnold. Been there, done that with Rex Ryan and young USC quarterbacks. Geez.
It's not a defensive league anymore. Which is why guys like Rex are becoming extinct. Build a high scoring offense then try to play just enough defense to win.
Not many coaches in the league could make the conference championship game twice with Mark sanchez as their QB I don’t care if you hate the guy as a coach, the results are the results He’s got some flaws but overall we had an extremely exciting team when he was in control I want a young offensive guru to take over btw
Still doesn't change the fact that the team laid a complete egg on both sides of the ball, even the defense that was considered the strength of the team.
