He hasn't looked great, but we're only 4 games in. I'll give him until the mid way point to turn it around. Our Offensive line is finally starting to click, so hopefully he can shed the rust and start finding some holes
No, read the link I posted. In addition to the roster bonus and signing bonus he has 1.2 mil base salary plus active game bonus. It's not fully guaranteed, but unless the Jets waive him, which I do not expect them to do, he will get his 2+ mil. He only has 1 year contract, no shenanigans there with the salary being moved, etc. So the CAP hit actually matches what is reasonably expected to earn in terms of actual cash. As far as playing him on running downs, you never know exactly when the team is going to run or pass. I don't think he ever played on 3d and long when you expect a pass. Jets did a reasonable job with him eventually playing more run downs than pass (56 to 38). However, you can never guarantee a running down for Al, and he is a liability on passing downs.
He said right after he was brought in that he signed to play with Aaron Rodgers. I think he he looks pretty unmotivated. Maybe that will change.
I did read the Spotrac link plus checked a couple of other links regarding the contract. The figures I posted are correct.
Is he costing Izzy playing time? If so, then he should be benched and let the kid get some real game experience.
Dalvin Cook should get less than half the carries he is averaging currently unless he becomes a big time receiving threat some time soon. If he is not one hundred percent or has some kind of nagging injury maybe we should keep him. If we have seen the best that Cook has to offer we should cut him loose after trying to trade him for a late round pick or a six pack of beer.
