    Washington, Jefferson, and Adams disagree.

So do 6 million Jews...that were disarmed before being slaughtered..

And yes, Assault weapons are precisely what the Constitution endorses.

You do realize that as a whole gun violence and violent crime in general is down substantially in this country since its peak in the 1990's? And whatever gun crime there is today caused by guns that are illegally obtained 90% of the time. Hardly what the media tells you.

    What against background checks?

Ask any one of the 501 (c)3 groups targeted by the IRS under Lois Lerner, because of their political leanings.
Background checks are run by the very people the RIGHT is there to protect you from.

Now, NO background checks is not a good thing, however, it should be limited to a database of prohibited people, and screenings should be deleted the minute they are passed, which should take no longer than swiping your credit card at a store.

First it's just a background check and they will say it's no big deal and that's it.
Then it's just a national gun registry but after this, that's it. No more.
Then it's that you need a permit. But after this they will stop.

It's a domino effect. Once you give away or lose one of your rights to the government, then you will never get it back again.

Look I despise guns but you have a right to own them. But let's put them in the hands of people that are mentally fit and legally eligible to own them. Which means background checks and a federal database, etc. I disagree with you about assault weapons. There is no logical reason to own them. You can kill a boar without them.

Most gun crime is not commuted by mental nuts. It's usually criminals engaging in criminal activity. I don't know why that is so hard for yall on the left to understand.

No. Just the usual felony check when you purchase. Basically leave it the way it is. If your a felon you shouldn't own. And using mental illness is too iffy as in we don't know what the illnesses that will prevent gun ownership are. Which is why I'd rather leave all gun regulations up to the states. I don't trust the federal govt on this and I trust them on very little. States suck too but for the most part they are more efficient.

Basically if we are gonna use mental illnesses as a reason not to own a gun then I'd like to see clear cut guidelines.

    So what.

There are well over 300 MILLION firearms privately owned in this country.

    Annual firearm homicides....11000.

    Asprin deaths 40,000.

    The Patriot.

    Same principle....

A small, well armed, motivated populace can fight off a dictator, should it become necessary.

That's so stupid Hobbes even by your standards. Just pure nonsense. Apples to oranges they say? This would be like apples to bowling balls...
Hit me up the next time a guy takes out 9 strangers with a bottle of Bayer. Maybe then you will make a little bit of sense.

dead is dead, is it not?

How about Happy Land Social club 87 people, a gallon of Gas.

Maybe you could reserve the nonsense slur for someone that equates a mild painkiller to a tool for defending Freedom.

Bottom line still remains...4x as many people die each year from aspirin.

Guns is much ado about little.

    Tobacco, kills 400k a year.
Yet, still legal. And the Gov't makes money off of it, then spends some of that advertising against it. (while pocketing the difference...for the children, dontchaknow)

Guns are so low on the list of real death related tragedy the outcry would be funny if it weren't so sad.

from that 11k, then subtract criminal on criminal crime. Then balance that with defensive use of weapons.

And you use the term nonsense...sheesh.

By my standards...at least I have some.

Hobbes Jr., punches another kid in the face at school cause he hates the kid for no reason.
When his gets to the principals office he says "300 days of school a year and only 1 day do I break a kids nose... Meanwhile kids fall off their bicycles everyday!!"

That's how stupid your argument is right now

You're the one making the facile argument.

Maybe,,,you just do not understand what you are saying.

All wrongful deaths are not equal, because you have a particular distaste for one cause.....

Maybe Aspirin should be by prescription only...surely that would cause the 40K death total to fall, and there is no Constitutional right to Aspirin...

So, maybe you could agree that simple common sense legislation, could save 10, 15 thousand lives...or are they not as important to you?

P.S. your bias is showing in your example, by iimparting bad morive to the substitute for the gun owner.

A more apt analogy would be Hobbes Jr breaks the nose in self defense, but gets blamed anyway because of current pc constructs.

a bunch of my friends are standing outside. A rouge stranger comes and runs over our feet, breaking 8 of our legs. They pull the stranger over. He says "thousands of people break their legs skiing every year! Legs are legs!"

    Hobbes argument
