Its worse than that. Some people are even fighting the mere suggestion that changes might be necessary
When the bill of rights was written, flint lock long rifles were the norm, not semi automatic 8 shot clip fed guns. Some sort of amendment that makes people prove they are responsible human beings (a license, like a car) before handing them this fire power. And please don't say it wouldn't of prevented this. Flint lock pistols vs a glock semi auto is the same comparison i already made.
I'm for the Bill of Rights but I don't need a history lesson or a test from you. For the most part you are into nitpicking and semantics and say nothing of true substance. If you think banning assault weapons and gun control abridges your freedoms ok with me. But you never answered my question and I asked you first. Your answer was a question. Are you against the laws on the books that are against sedition.
Should we also have to take a test before we excersize our 1st amendment rights on the internet to complain about the 2nd amendment? BTW, in South Carolina you do need to take a test before acquiring a pistol permit. You also need to take one in NYS, not sure how it is in all states. http://www.sled.sc.gov/documents/CWPApplicationForm.pdf Didn't seem to prevent this.
So a flint lock gun is equal to a semi auto with an 8 shot clip? And i vacation in myrtle and have been to multiple firing ranges in S.C. and they are "incredibly" lax on their regulations and proud of it because they are "upholding the 2nd amendment". Show me an example of people dieing from misuse of the 1st amendment.
First, it's called a magazine. And no - obviously not, and I didn't say it was. It seems that you're suggesting that requiring training on pistols prior to getting a required license would help the problem. Both of those are required in SC and didn't seem to prevent this. I agree btw, people getting pistols or any gun for that matter should be trained. It's a little frustrating hearing people scream about wanting "gun control" but the measures they suggest when asked for details already exist. Another one we hear all the time is "common sense gun control". Well wtf is that? I would like to hear some new suggestions that might actually help prevent dipshits like Dylann from getting guns without preventing law abiding citizens from doing so. They never seem to come up.
lets not also forget 3D printing which should sky rocket in the next 4 years. You can print your own working gun at home now.
I think it's too late for gun control, unfortunately. Passing gun control law won't make the existing guns out there just stop working. I'm not saying everyone having a gun is the only solution...I'm saying there is no solution. Sucks but it's the truth.
I am glad to see we aren't as far off as it may look. As someone noted after my initial post of page 4, look at other countries and see what they are doing. Begin limiting the amount of guns one can own (less guns in circulation SHOULD mean less access for the wrong people). i think you are waiting for someone to present a perfect solution but it doesn't exist. it is going to take a lot of little steps and a number of tweaks to get this fixed. Again i live in Canada with far less gun violence and much stricter laws. i don't expect the US to take up our standards because that is not how you do things with the 2nd amendment etc (i have a degree in north American history so i am in no way ignorant of your countries past). If both sides of this worked together and moved slowly and cautiously a true solution has to be out there.
IDK if mentioned in this thread or not, but the gun was given to him by his family. According to the judge today, he called the family victims. This is the country we live in today.
I think we are a long way away from that being possible. At least where average joes will be able to do that both economically and technically
my head is fucked up from watching that shit. The mother of one of the killed victims, good God dude. That was TyWanza Sanders's mother. He was killed standing in between the Aunt and the Shooter. Trying to protect his family. but we are sitting here in this fucking thread talking about gun control - that shit ain't going to solve anything. Parents are giving their mentally ill kids guns. These mentally ill kids aren't getting these guns themselves.
That was what was first reported because his uncle said it yesterday but CNN reported today that authorities are saying he bought the gun himself at a Charleston gun shop.
That is because the parents are mentally ill and seek to pass down their craziness to their offspring. Almost done with a Dan Brown book called Inferno in which a third of the population is controlled by making people sterile through a virus. Not such a bad idea considering the worst elements of our society
They all forgive him! Unbelievable, and just goes to show you that this POS sought out the most peaceful group he could have found. If I was them I'd be screaming death penalty.
