I was in jax.and yea he was hadicapped but still was never a pro bowl caliber qb.not by what the title is intended to mean.
It just depends on how each team finishes I assume. But if Sanchez leads the Jets back to the playoffs and has pretty good stats, it could happen. The final 4 weeks will say a lot about how it all finishes of course. Say Denver does not get in the playoffs, no way you can send Tebow to the Pro Bowl with his terrible stats and lack of being an actual QB.
All of these are great points. And again, I don't think he will be top 2-3 in the league. I guess the best argument I could make would be Drew Brees. Go look at his 5th season in the league (and last with San Diego). His numbers are extremely close to what Sanchez is putting up this year -- with the exception of completion percentage. TD rate, Int rate, YPG, Attempts and QBR are almost identical. It wasn't until Brees went to New Orleans and Sean Payton did he really become the player he is today. Maybe if/when the OC is changed and some young weapons are brought in for him, Sanchez can achieve what Brees is doing.
The odds get even greater since you have to figure that either Brady or Rothless berger are likely to get to the superbowl and even if they doesn't get to the big game both those guys are banged up and likely to be "unable" to play in it. I think Sanchez is a lock. But I also think that it only proves that saying a player his a pro bowl talent after being selected as the 3rd alternate; is a joke. In fact the entire enterprise is joke. Logan Mankins is like to be selected again, while having his worst season as a Patriot, so what does it mean to be an "pro bowl selection"
Fitz is still in third, Tebow is in fourth when it comes to fan voting. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-fourth-in-fan-voting-among-afc-quarterbacks/ No idea where Sanchez is in that voting. That article also mentioned that Brady typically ducks the pro-bowl so Sanchez could end up in even if Fitz/Tebow makes it. I guess if Pittsburg makes the superbowl then there is a chance that Rothlesberger and Brady don't go and then Sanchez will have a shot. I would expect the players to put in Fitz, or even Rivers if he cuts out the interceptions. If I recall correctly the players tend to re-vote in people who were already there. EDIT: Looking at Sanchez's current numbers, he's really improved from last season. If he keeps improving year to year at the same rate, they won't be able to keep him out of the pro-bowl next year.
Tebow is a rookie. I think Sanchez is having by far the better year of the two and there's absolutely no question who I'd want in a tough game on the road in the playoffs. That said, Tebow's accomplishments as a rookie are pretty staggering. They're well above Cam Newton and Andy Dalton and the other rookie QB's. QB's get paid to win games. Tebow is winning games.
It really depend on how he develops and what the Jets do in the off-season (again). Some QB's soar in year 4 and others take a step back. Joe Flacco has taken a big step back this year because the Ravens decided to change up all of his receivers except for Boldin after his strong year last year. If the Jets go out and get two new receivers again and expect them to play major roles next season we may well see Sanchez in a holding pattern until year 5.
One thing unfair in the comparison is experience yes. But, Tebow is not a rookie. I'm tired of hearing this. Yes new coach, system and no offseason but was he not on an nfl roster last year? did he not play games last year? Did he not have an offseason coming in his first year? Unless Tebow learns to throw consistently their blueprint for success is not sustainable. Nevertheless he is making a reputation as a playmaker. and deservedly so. that being said Cam Newton is what Tebow wishes he was. I would probably also take Dalton over Tebow long term . we dont have to agree and im sure we wont. Tebow is a competitor and an athlete I still do not see him ending his career as a starting QB though.
You're right, I should have said first year starting QB. I don't know if Tebow is real or not. A big part of the question about him is whether or not NFL defenses will handle the option as well as they are likely to with a bit more film to go on. He is however winning games at a pace no first year QB has managed in 50-odd years. The Broncos were a weak, moribund team until he took over and now they are winning and the biggest part of that from what I can see is that they're all giving 100% all the time, believing that Tebow will find a way to win the game in the end. That's just huge. I totally agree that NFL teams should be able to shut down what Tebow is doing at the end but so far they haven't been. It's a bit distressing to see Tebow claiming the lord is on his side as he does this, since eventually he'll have to tell us all that the lord has forsaken him, but that's the breaks.
it has a lot more to do with the defensive players getting comfortable in john fox's system ... specifically von millers improvement and elvis dumerville getting healthy
Mark F'king Sanchez should make the probowl, that would be great. Then, for the rest of his career we can call him "Pro-Bowl Quarterback Mark Sanchez". Damn, I like the sound of that.
Denver's defense is still 10 times better than Carolina's defense. Denver's defense is prone to spurts of competence. In the 3 games before the Vikings game they hadn't given up more than 13 points in any game. Carolina's defense on average is giving up 27 a game...which is pathetic. Carolina has only held one team to under 19 points this year (the Jaguars). If Carolina had an average defense they'd be around .500 at least. They're 5th in total yards on offense, 8 in points per game on offense.
