Your whole argument just got tossed out the window. $10 option bonus and a steep escalator based on playing only 39% of the snaps.

We just gave up several draft choices for 1 year, or a big contract! I officially don't like this deal now and I still don't know what the picks we're giving away is yet!!!

An average of 6 million per year sounds about right for him.

Anybody know how the option bonus is applied to the cap?

This reminds me of Moore's bonus that forced us to cut him...I hope we didn't get spoiled.

    wow..

sheppard... have you seen him play? with the addition of lito and maybe the ravens safety we would have probably the best secondary in the league...

    respectively.

I could not disagree more. The only person on this list that I put on the same level of lito is C McAlister...and he's been hurt 2 years in a row

LOL what I meant was that when he's healthy he wasnt riding the bench up until last year when he had a fall out with the HC and FO.

I agree that my argument just got blown away. Now the deal becomes a much higher risk. However, it is still not the end of the world to give away late round picks for a potential Pro-Bowl caliber player. The money has me more concerned. Now he has to produce.

Again, that's still assuming that they are going to be late round picks. If they are, fine, but what if one ends up being a 2nd or 3rd rounder? I still want to know what conditions trigger the higher draft picks. Is it playing 39% of the snaps?

Does anybody know why we don't seem to be looking at free agent Leigh Bodden? Is he asking for too much money or something?

I don't think he's under contract with anybody. In fact, I hear Ty Law is also available.

Im pumped to see lito sheppard on the jets. I wanted this to happen a couple years ago (i think at one point he was a free agent but then renegotiated) But he's just a fun player to watch, Im pleasantly surprised this all happened.

I think he is gonna have a comeback season with the Jets. It'll all boil down to us signing Leonhard. If we can get Leonhard, Sheppard won't return punts, decreasing the likelihood of him getting laid out and injured.

To the people bitching about the 10 million dollar option bonus...if Shep plays well and its a capped year that shit will get re-negotiated so fast it'll make your head spin. I don't see the haters perspective on this deal. If he plays at a pro bowl level we gave up a 5th and a 2nd rounder in order to have the best secondary in the league bar none. Think about how nasty the team would be with Lito playing at his former level, Revis on the other side and then the eventual safety tandem of Leonhard and Rhodes. If he doesn't play well then not only did we take a shot with two 5th round picks, but he'll never even see the 10 million dollar option bonus get spread out because he'll be gone. Lito at the level that he's capable of playing at is better then anyone on the market and that includes McFadden, and Bartell who by all accounts wants 7 million a year.
