I wouldnt oppose to signing him, i doubt it though he probably wants to start. But it would be smart for him to come here cause he would definitely get opportunities to get sacks.
ummmm....really not sure about that. I'd say he'd be number 1 or 2 on the depth chart - for pass rushing situations I mean
If we can turn Cromartie, LT, and Merriman into their old selves.....after beating SD in the playoffs last year....they will fucking HATE us.
Amen to that! Merriman has (since being a dominant player) been busted for steroid use and suffered to torn knee ligaments. This isn't 2006-2007 and Shawn Merriman isn't playing "lights out" anymore.
the guy is an injured player cut in the middle of the season. you honestly think he has the option to simply wait for a starting job?
uhhhh uhhhh Merriiimann uhhhh ahhhh Wait and see. I trust Tanny and Rex enough to know that if they sign the guy they believe that they can revive him.
That's not correct. Merriman was caught for using steroids before the 2006 season. He was then suspended the first 4 games of the 2006 season. He then went to two straight Pro Bowls so take from that what you will.
All the more reason to bring him in. Everyone was aware the Chargers had the talent on the roster to win the superbowl, there coaches just sucked monumentously. Bring them to NY and the coaches will get them playing like champions. :chargers: Bringing in Merriman screams of Tanny. Whether he contributes or not is almost not important. This move has Tanny written all over it, I hope it does happen, he has lost his motivation (in addition to the HGH) Rex can motivate anyone, so if he has a revival in him, Rex is the guy i want to try and bring it out
shawn is a fan of the jets i think. he always tweeted about how he loved the jets on hard knocks, etc etc.
How long were you waiting to whip that one out lol For real though, I think even Mike Tannenbaum (if you put a gun to his head) would have to admit that Tomlinson is surpassing his expectations. Not only is he playing at a starting level, but he's outplaying Greene by a significant margin. I'm just going to put this in the same category with "wanting to draft Sinorice Moss," and be glad that I'm not running the Giants.
I don't think even the most optimistic Jets fan expected this type of season (so far) from LT. I'm sure you could go find 10 things I was dead wrong about if you felt like it too.
My point wasn't that he was only talented because of his steroid use. Combine that with his torn LCL and PCL (if memory serves) and you have a pretty good case for a player that ain't what he once was. Having seen a few Chargers games (though I'm not by any means an expert on all things Charger) I've seen a slight decline in play from 05-06 (after the steroid suspension) and since his knee surgery I've seen a MAJOR decline in his play. He can still produce, but he's not a pro-bowler and will probably still want to be paid accordingly.
It's all good, I actually think it's pretty funny to look back on all my stupid football opinions. Ask Cato my thoughts on the Giants (Eli Manning in particular) after week 16 of the 2007 season.
