Jenkins is great! But depending on who you root for I'd give tham a 1a, 1b! Wilfork has been pretty dominant lately also.
The Jets need to be careful though. The Broncos linemen are notorious for going after the knee with cut blocks and chop blocks.
I think this is the best way of putting it. In terms of pure ability, this is a legitimate question. In terms of production, it is not.
Isn't what the Broncos are notorious for is standing up a DLinemen with one blocker and then hitting his legs with a second blocker? I'm curious, wouldn't 2-gapping linemen like the Jets scheme uses be more susceptible to this?
I have yet to see an NFL center dominate, let alone even play toe to toe with Jenkins this year. Something tells me that if the likes of Kevin Mawae and Dan Koppen couldn't play to his level, then Wiegman doesn't have a good shot.
In terms of body of work Wilfork will have the the upper hand, even when Jenkins gets enough years in playing the 3-4. But has Wilfork ever single-handedly just shit all over a team? I don't watch enough Pats games. I've never seen one man engulf three people at will at the NT position the way Jenkins has.
Wilfork is very good but his ceiling as a NT/DT/DE is nowhere near as high. Jenkins is talented enough to play any position on the line in either a 3-4 or a 4-3 and dominate. He is a complete and total freak athlete. If Jenkins started his career as a 3-4 NT he would be be on another level then Wilfork and I think Wilfork is a great NT. He already is.
I don't get to see Rodgers that much but you have to love what Jenkins is doing for our team right now. Based on the games I have seen Haynesworth and Jenkins are the two best with Jenkins clearly having a much better game head to head. The other lineman who is having a great year and dominating but is not a 3/4 DT is Justin Tuck. He is playing both DT and DE in the 4/3 and dominating in either position. We had a guy like that at one time, Joe Klecko. At the end of the year if the Giants and Jets end up being one and two seeds you could make a strong argument that Jenkins and Tuck are co-defensive players of the year and both could be in the argument for MVP.
