really cause Jenkins is without a doubt the only player who showed up on defense. apparently 10 other guys stole jets uniforms
Didn't ELlis have a sport hernia operation in the offseason? It was either him or Woody... anyways, if you consider that when lineman push the pile all their power gets trasferred from their legs to their back I can see why he isn't that effective. Sports hernia operation + lineman + 10yrs in the NFL = career over (as a starter at least)
This is Ellis' 10th season. I give the guy plenty of credit ---- he has been a model of consistency playing all 3 downs in 15/16 games every year. I stated on this website in March 2008 that I thought he should be traded because he still had some value plus a relatively big contract. I stand behind that because this year those miles are really starting to show. He played well last year but ultimately it didnt matter because we didnt even make the playoffs anyway. Thats why the PATS are so good ---- ultimately they treat their players as business assets & will cast them off anytime it might help the team. Look at Vrabel & Seymour crying & bitching about all the years + blood they gave the team only to be traded off the second it benefited the NE organization. We have to get ruthless if we want to cross the plane of success.
The Pats believed they had another viable option. The Jets really don't. You don't trade from a weak area to make it weaker.
3-4 DEs are not supposed to be sack machines. The idea behind the 3-4 is to put as much beef as possible on the line to eat up blockers so that faster and more athletic linebackers can get pressure on the QB. Ellis has a good amount of size and although he certainly doesn't pile up the sacks anymore, he's more than adequate to play the part of 3-4 end.
It was a somewhat awkward joke. Think of what else Richard Seymour could mean for a guy. Thinking of his name as Seymour, Richard, would be better, too.
