It makes sense not to want this job, especially if you're coming from the AFC West; you go from facing Herm, Norv Turner, and Al Davis twice a year to facing Belichick and Parcells twice a year. Is that ideal?

It should be with his ego..he thinks he walks on water. It should have been perfect for him.

Shanahan is waiting for the San Diego job. Best fit for him since San francisco hired their head coach. Denver I hear is hot for the Oklahoma coach. Detroit will hire Jason Garrett or Leslie Frasier. Cleveland will hire Marty Shottenheimer. That leaves St. Louis,K.C, and the Jets. So its Spagnuola or Ryan for the picking.

Denver is hot for Spagnuolo and Cleveland definitely wants Mangini. They also want Pioli though so that may be a problem.

Pioli will never hire Mangini. He may take that offensive coordinator with him. Its 50-50 either him or Marty.

The problem is, if Favre retires, we have nothing at all at QB. We were screwed up so badly outright releasing Chad to Miami, now there really is no good solution. Favre retires, new coach looks at our QB situation, and beleive it or not, it looks even worse than with Favre. And if Favre stays, then new coach has to think how to deal with this guy. It's really a horrible position to be in, a lose lose situation. With that said, we need to choose lesser of two evils. And that is bringing Favre back, because I just don't think a good coach would want to take on the Jets with Clemens as top QB.

And if you think good QB is not improtant to coach, think again. Even Belichik stunk without a good QB. In Cleveland and even in NE. He was 5-11 in first year in NE. Woody probably would have fired him right there. But then Belichik gets lucky and Brady emerges, and Bill and Brady are able to turn franchise around. A coach looks at QB situation first and foremost along with FO situation and stability of the team. Unfortunately Woody managed to destroy all of these things. Not a pretty situation right now, and without Favre we are even worse than with him at this point.

NYJunc.......You're soooooright about BP and the draft. 97, 98 & 99.... Dorian Boose, Rick Terry, Scott Frost, James Farrior (instead of Orlando Pace) .......the only decent picks I can remember was Randy Thomas & Jason Fergerson. Parcells, even though was still with the team in 2000....Groh had major control of the 4 pick 2000 1st Round draft.
