That’d be a dream come true. They put on good F1 racing shows and UFC matches over there. If the show sucks they get hung in the public square. We could use that kind of accountability.
Is this where we’ve fallen to? So, in other words, fans must PAY extreme amounts of money to go to a game to protest someone who doesn’t give a shit? (Woody) He WON’T get the message. He’s sitting back going, “look at those fools that paid ME full price to go on National TV and wear bags.” Want this to work? Find an empty field or parking lot, not associated with the team, then tailgate. Do not pay the price of parking, do not pay the price of entry…give that team NO $$. Then and only then maybe something but it sure as hell won’t work if you are greasing his palm to be IN the stadium to protest.
How is this at all responsive to the thread title and original post? There have been threads here for a few years about what you wrote about, I'm sure with a little effort you could find one to add your thoughts to.
Bezos is still shopping for an NFL team. The question here is how to convince Johnson his best interest would be satisfied by selling.
LIsten I am no fan of Woody or his brother but he got hosed when JD and RS tag teamed him into believing that this team as presently constatuted (last year) was a QB away from the promise land. So what does he do, he goes and get AR and is not left holding the perverbial bag of Shit that JD created with his poor decisions.....
There was a short discussion about this a couple of weeks ago. I am on board for whatever, collecting money, grassroots promotion, anything that will get him to sell this team. Let's do it. The poster formerly known as broomulack - was time for a change.
Everybody? I don't think anybody did. We can't sit here and say he doesn't listen to the fans because he's busy counting his money, and then say he went and got Aaron Rodgers because of the fans. He went and got Aaron Rodgers because it's a big name that will put the Jets in the headlines and asses in the seats. And don't give him credit for spending money, every NFL franchise has to spend money. There is a bottom cap as well as a top cap. The poster formerly known as broomulack - was time for a change.
You think they convinced him of that? I don't. I think everybody else convinced him of that, and he forced them to do it. The poster formerly known as broomulack - was time for a change.
This is true as well, but a petition will never do it. There are only two things that could ever get him to even have the thought enter his mind. One, we can accomplish, the other we can't. The one we can accomplish is what we're talking about here, public humiliation, get it all over the news, let the owners bring it up to him at owners meetings and ask what the hell is going on. The other one, which we would never accomplish, is having no one buy anything, go to the stadium, or ever support the team again. Never happen. I'd be in to buy up billboard space all around Met Life and any close to the Florham Park facility on 78 and any other highway around it!!! Put up SELL THE TEAM WOODY & FIRE WOODY Billboards everywhere I could. Maybe some flyovers with banners that say the same throughout all training camp and for every home game - shit even away games! I'd donate to that - wonder if I could also write it off? LOL
Um, yes. I'd like to volunteer to hold onto the money. Just send it this way and I'll ensure it gets put to use!
Perhaps we can convince Woody to fire JD, Saleh, et al, and instead of hiring replacements for them, he can turn those jobs over to AI. ChatGPT would almost certainly be an improvement on both counts. And it would have a better excuse for looking lost and disinterested on the sideline!
Perhaps someone needs to look at the Hets organization structure before providing recommendations. The Jets do have a president. The president is Hymie Elhai. Under him he has 247 personnel. Joe Douglas reports to him. Under Joe, he has 205 employees assisting him on the personnel including assisting GM and VP. Not sure what OP is recommending but there is a President who has various structure of people GM, Coach, Medical, non personnel finances, etc….
Woody will be 77 in the spring... it's just a matter of time until he needs to sell as part of his estate planning. Leon Hess died at 85... most of us can wait this out and hope he sells to a smart owner that surrounds himself with smarter football people.
There is no question in the minds of those here regularly what the need is and has been demanded for years, to no avail; only the title may have to be finalized. This is certainly not the first time fans here have called for the creation of what is commonly called a president or vice president of football operations. It's been pretty common in the NFL for years. Such a position would be dedicated to putting the best football product on the field and providing the direct support for every facet of the onfield business. The halftime entertainment coordinators, ticket peddlers, merchandise selection specialists and hot dog taste testers would continue to report to Elhai. I don't even care if the football operations guy reports to him as long as all he does is sign the checks. Certainly if football operations is something Elhai has been directly involved in he needs to be driving the bus that takes Douglas, Saleh, et al. off the property.
Let us clarify: a president of FOOTBALL operations, not business operations. It's really swell that his "leadership has helped the Jets reach unprecedented growth through all aspects of the business, including sponsorship, sales and content, leading to several organizational accolades and industry recognition, including a 2023 NJBIZ Best Places to Work honor". Don't see anything in there even remotely related to football. So nice try but a guy who can tell the difference between a safety and a corner would be nice, not just some guy who proves our point that the Jets and their ownership are all about their bottom line and not the product on the field. The poster formerly known as broomulack - was time for a change.
He hasn't been involved with anything related to football other than working for an organization that is in the NFL. The poster formerly known as broomulack - was time for a change.
I don’t where they come from so long as they are smart, experienced, sports executives. Again, not looking for a “football guy”. Looking for a professional with the management and leadership skills necessary to move the organization forward. If Woody does one thing this offseason it should be hiring a team president. You cannot allow a lame duck head coach and GM full reign this offseason. They are going to go all in to try to safe their jobs not act in the best long term interest of the team.
