Do we really even need a state-of-the-art stadium? Going to a Jets-Giants game is all about tailgating before the game and then going inside to watch the game. Most everybody eats and drinks in the parking lot. After the game some people will fight thru traffic to leave, or some will tailgate again to let the crowd thin out before leaving. JMHO but I really don't think the fans care about have nice restaurants and bars or stores in the stadium as it's really expensive to buy stuff there.

I agree for the most part. My biggest complaint with MetLife is no retractable roof. Games like last Sunday kills the fan experience.

I agree with you on that. It was my fault I was soaked to the bone. I forgot to wear a poncho.

Eh. SoFi might be a bad example because it’s such a wine and cheese crowd, but all of the state of the art stadiums have tons of tailgating and pregame parking lot fun and then they go into an awesome stadium right after.

US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis might be a better example.

This is why I keep saying it is illogical. You have just dismissed the biggest event in the world as having "clearly" low standard, while putting down Qatar stadiums you have no clue about in the process. If this is your logic, there is no logic at all, no reasoning. Then yeah, move to Queens, why not. Apparently anything goes.

Probably won't go to any games if they move to Queens.

MetLife never had any personality and the layout of the mezzanine tier is braindead but it's not THAT bad of a venue.

FIFA does have low standards if they awarded Qatar anything at all. Terrible, corrupt organization that they are, that was pretty low even for them. I also don't care about Qatars slave labor stadiums. Their citizens didn't foot the bill for that and it was accomplished using intentured servants. Things work a little differently here.

You wildly missed the point about the world cup choosing Qatar and how their decision making should mean absolutely nothing when it comes to evaluating things.

Queens is a bad location for the franchise. It puts us even farther away from most of the ticketholders and creates the potential for tremendous traffic snarls on gameday.

Westchester/Yonkers is the place to go. Much smoother travel experience for the ticketholders. Less traffic over the key bridges that turn into a mess. Equal access for the casinos that want to package in tours to games and other stuff.

But do they pick bad stadiums for WCF? That's a news to me. And is Copa America governing body CONMEBOL also corrupt to pick Metlife for the final? Woody bought them? They sure all seem to like Metlife and have successful world class events there for something that's "disgusting". A better and more logical explanation is that the stadium is fine and some fans will complain about pretty much anything.

Honest question-have you been to another team’s stadium?

Yes, been to Philly, Florida, but can you address the points above before deflecting? Why are you so disgusted?

The Jets ownership wanted a roof. It was the Giants ownership that refused to build one, claiming that they felt if they had a roof, the league could force them to close it in bad weather and they felt the bad weather gave them a home field advantage. If Woody had any brains (or balls) he would have continued the legal fight for the west side stadium (with a roof) that would have instantly become a NYC jewel (belonging solely to us).

Not deflecting at all, stop looking for a fight. I get what you like about ML, but most stadiums are completely immersive as a TEAM experience. Go to PIT for example, everything is black and yellow, everything honors the teams of the past as well as the current team. There’s no place in or outside of the stadium where for a moment you might not know what team plays there. When I go to Metlife stadium I’m acutely aware of 2 things-there’s shit tons of signs about beer and the Jets are probably playing there based on some haphazard displays and announcements. I’m an alcoholic and can’t and don’t drink. I’ve spent time in multiple stadiums and there’s no stadium that comes even close to the desolate grays of ML and no stadium that comes anywhere close to the # of beer ads. Of course every stadium has them, but I’d venture ML has probably 4-1 alcohol ads to Jets references. And the reason I’m my opinion is because they have so much empty wall space due to 2 teams playing there, so they fill that wall space with something both teams can agree on, making more beer sales.

You keep missing the point that the Jets and Giants are supposed to represent the greatest city in the world meanwhile they share a stadium in New Jersey that probably ranks in the complete bottom of the league while it was built in within a decade as AT&T Stadium, US Bank, SoFi, Allegiant, etc.

It might be exaggerated as being bad by fans I guess but it’s pretty embarrassing compared to all of those.

If games were $30 and parking was $10, your point would be fine. If they didn’t pull the wool over season ticket holders heads to buy PSL’s, your point would be fine.

They could’ve done a lot better and they had tons of room to do it and decided to buy a Camry when a crowd funding effort paid for a Mercedes and they pocketed the change.

Someone forgot to tell my bank account I'm a rich CT kid. If you can get out of that hell hole in under an hour or seven, make the trip up and tell my bank there seems to be a problem.

I live in Houston and I've never been to MetLife. But I have friends from NY who came to visit a few years ago and when we went to a Texans game, they couldn't get over how much nicer NRG Stadium is than MetLife. For what it's worth, they all loved Minute Maid Park in comparison to the two new NY parks, too.

Not looking for a fight at all, just trying to understand why someone who lives in NJ wants to go to Queens to see the Jets. You think there will be less beer signs in Queens? Maybe, but they will be replaced by casinos if this senator has his way. There is an easy and much cheaper solution, just put the LEDs on these spaces inside the current stadium. Switch the LED to blue vs green on a game day depending who plays. It's EASY and relatively cheap. Not a reason to move out of Metlife.

They knew it too, but the reason why it wasn't done is not because of two teams (as I explained it is very easy to overcome) but for the same reason why roof isn't there: removing beer commercials is lost revenue. Building roof is added cost. Personally I don't care about that, I just want to see the game, but even if you do care, none of this is changing in Queens.
