If EITHER of those other 2 are there, it's an easy pick. Please, oh, please don't pick a WR in the top 5.
Not going to be cheap. Why? competition for the QB's and that's assuming that the teams that have the draft pick(s) to get them don't want one of them (in which case the price becomes obscene). Winston may be there at 6 because of his off field concerns, Marriotta will be out of price range.
No way to a trade up, that means a future 1st round pick goes to another team and its such a roll of the dice when it comes to that. We could very well give up a top 5 pick just as we can a top 20 pick. We need to replenish this team with more talent and you need to do that with keeping picks or only making trade ups in the later portion of the draft where you aren't held to a king's ransom.
Rather than trading up, would anyone be interested in trading down with, maybe Cleveland?? They currently have two picks (15 & 20) in the first round. We could conceivably snag Cook and someone like Trae Waynes/Dante Fowler/Alvin Dupree/Brandon Scherff/La'el Colins. I'm usually more for quality over quantity, but a drop-off from 6 to 15 isn't enough to not want a 2nd pick, only five picks later.
Yes I agree that is likely but you never know man...But I agree, packers lost so they will destroy them this weekend and Saints may have the division on the line in week 17
Connor Cook coming out could change the direction of our team entirely. With Cook out there, we could draft Amari and come back in at some point for Connor.
If Idzik is our GM, we won't even consider a trade up. We had 12 picks last year and didn't move at all.
I would cry tears of joy if we somehow got Amari Cooper and Connor Cook - my favorite 2 offensive players in college right now.
I would honestly take Cook because I prefer a QB that can play in the pocket and run the pro offense from the get-go.
Cook, he runs a pro style offense, stands tall in the pocket, has a rocket arm, he has accuracy issues but they can be fixed and he has the ability to scramble aka just not slow.
I'd rather trade back in this draft and grab either La'el Collins or T.J. Clemmings to help fix the line. Both could start right away at right tackle, and Collins could easily start at either guard position. Clemmings has tremendous upside. He has only been playing o-line for 2 years and excels as a run blocker. He might get to the 2nd level faster than any other tackle in this draft.
