Thanks for the report. To summarize it seems what you saw confirms what Cimini & Boland are saying about our QB position which means that the FO/CS actually did nothing about the most important position on the field LOS & moved us further behind the Pats.

I honestly think Caulcrick makes this roster as the goal-line back and back-up/ Future Fullback.

Great report 227! I sure hope Kellen finds his game though...Penny has always been good when his team was clearly better, but against the top competition he always crumbles. Kellen might lose some that we should have won, but I think he has the potential to bring us back and keep us in games that we probably shouldn't have had a chance. I just keep thinking back on the end of the Ravens game last season - we need more of that guy.

We'll see how it goes when they start playing other teams.

I was hoping for the same thing. We know he's got an arm. I've been looking for sound judgement, poise, clock management, good check-down and a fair degree of accuracy.

He's got some of that working for him right now, but then there's still that raw, rookie kinda thing goin' on. The INTs have NOT helped him and he needs to stop that RIGHT NOW.

If he can get that under control, he at least has a shot. If not, Pennington will be the starter by default and I hate to say this, but Clemens will be history. If he does'nt make it this year we'll carry him as the #2, but by next TC he'll either be battling Ainge and Ratliff for that job or some other guy who we draft... or maybe worse... if we bring in a known QB, he could be completely gone by a year from now.

So this is his shot, I think. He really needs to get it going and STOP with the INTs already.

Dear 227, I just don't understand why the CS keeps hiding Callahan from us. The guy has probably the most important assignment of this season -- resurrecting the somnolent and defeated OL into some kind of serious beast.

So -- what's he doing about it? How is he shaping up all those eager backups?

Who's learning and who's coasting among the backups?

We got exactly ONE WORD out of Mangold about all those reps against THE BEAST... "Miserable." ...How about another couple of dozen, eh?

Enough with the QBs...! Their future is in the hands (eh, paws, that is) of the Big Uglies!

They're the ones we should be scrutinizing and analyzing and guessing about.

    LOL....

I concentrated on the QBs for the reasons I gave earlier, but you're right. Someone needs to do a writeup on the O-line (and I have just the guy for the job too). He'd do a MUCH better job than I could ever hope to do.

Kurt, where are you and why aren't you in camp?

This point is what a week or two into TC. He may be the best option today but I'm very hopeful that come Pre-Season Clemens will be a much better option and come the opening of the season Chad has no reason to put his helmet on.

I'm not on the dark side at all. I fully expect a veteran QB to look better than a relatively unseasoned QB running the O. I'm not concerned about all the INT's unless we don't see marked improvement over the course of TC.

If Pennington is named the starter so be it. I won't be happy because I think he brings little to the table but I've survived bad and mediocre Jet teams before and even tease Jet teams.

Are you sure about that? He threw 2 INTs in camp today.

I don't think you can judge either QB fairly until the end of camp. Our intense media access these days hasn't suddenly made these QBs any better or worse. You need to judge them by the entire body of work rather than the day to day.
