By aggressive he meant on defense.. And on offense there is aggressive like throwing a play action bomb on first down or on second and short and then there is RECKLESS which is rolling a rookie qb out in his own endzone... Giving up on the run after an ineffective series is not how it's done.. If they stack 9 in the box you can still run at them, throw in a double TE package and combine Richardson and bring cotch into the line and you have what it takes to run against an 8-9 man front.. If you are running out of a 3WR package against a stacked box yeah ur not gonna gain anything, but there is such a thing as beating them at their own game and IMO their SOFT up the middle.
Ok ,so Sanchez's pass goes right through Stuckey's hands and its bad coaching ?? How many 4th down stops did the Jets have yesterday. I guess Saints fans are all saying that they were outcoached too right . Bottom line in the NFL 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 are no gimmes - especially against tough defenses and even tougher tougher on the road. Its not like they were calling draw plays on 3rd and 15.
No , I'm pretty sure when Rex said we're going to be agressive , he meant it across all facets of the game. And did you even watch the opening Jets drive . That's the way you beat a team stacking 8-9 in the box. Quick hitters ,slants , not trying to stick with the run for the sake of running. We knew coming in they needed to pass to open up the run game., Our first drive was working great , unfortunately it ended with the pick six. When the saints got the 2nd defensive TD , it threw our gameplan out the window.
you cant throw a slant or comeback EVERY pass play and expect good results. the play calling was weak.
amen, there were a few calls i wasnt crazy about, particularly a third and two in which we lined up in spread formation, but later in the game we ran the ball on a third and two and got stuffed so what can i say.
I did not miss a snap, thanks for implying that I made my points out of thin air.. And yes, you can beat a stacked box with those plays, but that does not mean that you should not run when they stack the box, you still can.. Also whoever said we lack a true blocking TE was correct. Aggressive and Reckless are two different things. I still believe that if they stack the box the ball can still be run, it's not like we're facing the Ravens with 8 in the box, this is the smaller Saints defense here and our offensive line is a talented one. Stick with the run, play the field position (our defense was amazing) and take your shots when their available.. All that I am saying is that by sticking with the run we would have given ourselves and our defense a better chance to win.
The problem is the O line is not gettign it done and the coaches have no confidence in them right now, and rightly so. When they start doing their job, the offense can play more ball control.
Rex said it best in his presser today that is was a total disappointment that Leon only had 8 touches the entire game. Our offense doesn't go without his contribution yet. Give Karney credit though, he kept Leon from running the ball back all game too. Schotty won't make that mistake again, he is a very creative O coordinator. The whole right side of the Oline needs to step it up.
The Saints gameplan was to crowd the LOS and stop the run. The way to combat that is with screens, slants etc.. This is exactly what we came out of the box doing. If we scored on that first drive it would have loosened up the D and we may have been able to establish the run. However, we went down 14-0 quickly and that altered the gameplan signicifcantly. I agree in normal circumstances sticking with the run makes sense , but in this game we had too many factors against it 1) Saints committed to crowd the box and take away the run, 2) we got down 14-0 3) Our oline struggled against the quicker Saints Dlne and LBers . Despite what some peole here consider bad playcalling , we were still in that game in the 4th quater after giving up two turnovers for TD's - that's pretty amazing considering we were facing a quality opponent.
One of the reasons I have not been prepared to dump on Schotty too much is because I feel he's had limited options at wideout. That's all different now, with the Edwards signing. If he can't come up with ways to use Edwards to make this O more effective and score more points, I think he should be shot before Thanksgiving.

Win, Lose or Draw, Schottenheimer Sucks With three minutes to play in the game and the bills at the 50, the outcome is still uncertain, but the one indisputable fact is that Brian S. sucks. He has absolutely NO feel for a game. The Jets consistently pick up nice chucks of yards on the ground only to have him continue to try and force the passing game. It's obvious that Sanchez is lost today, but instead of understanding this and tailoring his game plan to what's working, he keeps putting the Jets in terrible situations. He sucks, sucked last year and nothing has changed!

shotty has issues he has no feel for the game play callingThis game and the interceptions are his fault. Edwards has been here 2 weeks he had a great game last week but this is when feel for the qb comes into play and they do not have that communication yet. No idea why his name gets mentioned when there are head coaching vacancies. Whoever is dumb enough to want Schotty as a head coach can have him. Maybe the Browns will take him after they fire Mangini.
