Damnit. Why couldn't he take the damn job. If I have to deal with another season of piss poor play selection and clock management, I'll probably end up jumping off a cliff. Schotty will be a good HC because he won't have to design and call plays.

He didn't turn down the job, he just pulled his name from consideration. There's no guarantee that they would have hired him.

Schottenheimer is obviously extremely persuasive if he has been able to convince the Jets to keep him around for so long.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that he convinces Shahid Khan the owner of the Jaguars and an amazing mustache that he's the best man for the job.

Maybe he will become the OC at Penn State.

I was about to write that we should take up a collection to offer to the Jags to take him.

He was probably the cheapest owner in football until he had to sell PSLs.

Has an FO holding a coach as high as OC over from an old regime and forcing him upon a new coach EVER been successful in the NFL?

I said it then and I'll say it again, he should have been gone in 2009.

I've been watching First Take several times per week, and Mangini has become a regular on there. As diplomatic as he often is, he also - believe it or not - provides some quality insight and thorough analysis of in-game plays by using the telestrator.

Earlier in the season, using the telestrator, Mangini was breaking down game footage (I can't remember if he was dissecting the Pats' Defense or the Jets' Offense). Mangini said that when he was the Jets HC, one of the principal reasons he wanted Schotty as the OC was because Schotty demonstrated some intricate 'blueprint' (essentially utilizing pre-snap shenanigans) that was able to attack and confuse New England's Defense.

My point is, Shcotty probably has enough bait in his tackle-box to attract some fish; I'm just hoping he gets one to bite so we can finally move on.

Offensive coordination by committee, woody is starting to scare me, this is not a J&J management team.

OMG this soap opera is one that will never end, how did I become a jet fan? OMG.

In 06, he did a remarkable job. He took a limited roster and really got a lot out of it.

The problem was in 07 the league adjusted to his pre snap movement, and he never was able to respond.

The true test is can you adjust to the adjustments made against you, and schitty never could.

Awful news, would have liked to see him go to the Gators, so that my Vols could get a win against them.

Apparently he has not withdrawn his name for the Florida OC job.
