Yeah, he did, that's why I consider it the beginning of the end. When they faced the Broncos, the damage Ngata did got re-aggravated and it went from ups and downs to an avalanche.
Neither Hackett or Schotty is the worst OC the Jets have had. That title should go the Pete Carroll's OC in '94, Ray Sherman. Anyone who remembers that season must remember how poor the offense functioned, and his terrible play calling.
Ray Sherman's 94 campaign was followed by Ron Erhardt's campaign of 3-13 then 1-15 performances under Rich Kotite. Neither Esiason nor O'Donnell eclipsed 60% completion ratio during Erhardt's two year stint. I would think that, if Ray Sherman should be included in the list, so should Ron. P.S. Brian's report card as a St. Louis Ram: In 2013: 21th in scoring (21.8), 21th in number of offensive plays (348), 30th in Yards per game [That's worse than Jets by full 18 yards], 25th in ToP [Again, worse than the Jets.] In 2012: 25th in scoring, 25th in total offensive plays, 23rd in YPG, and 21st in ToP. Rams failed to average 30 minutes of offense in both seasons. Now - did Rams offense lack talent? Let's see: They drafted Tavon Austin last year to boot. On top of that, they did this: Brian Quick (2nd round, 2012) Stedman Bailey and Austin Pettis (2013 and 2011, both 3rd) Chris Givens. (4th round, 2012) And FA acquisition of Jared Cook in 2013. It's not really like Rams O didn't have the necessary playmakers - that's the difference between Jets offense last season. [And to think this offense somehow managed to get LESS yardage than Jets offense... Yeah. Good OC my ass.]
LOL Schotty's playbook http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/8402/tavon-austin Tavon Austin acknowledged he struggled to learn the Rams' playbook as a rookie. It's worth noting Austin scored a 7 on his 2013 Wonderlic test. "I didn't really know what was going on," he said. "Everything looked like Spanish and sounded like Spanish to me."
