Okay, that was a lousy "evaluation," if you can call it that. Where do you get off saying that Barton is average at best? He's a great tackler and was one of our better defensive players last year. And you classify Kassell as garbage why? He isn't even close to garbage. Chatham isn't quite "garbage" either.

And as for special teams, Schlegal is a run-stopping 3-4 ILB with not too much speed (like many 3-4 ILBs). Spencer had played on special teams in the NFL for a season or two previously with the Titans. He was brought in to play special teams basically. Spencer is faster than Schlegal also. It's a big advantage if one guy can get down the field faster than the other.

Yeah he stands to make 3 million next season and then be a Free Agent. Trade him now while you can get something for him or pay him and then lose him.

Here is the bottom line. Some players are drafted to replace other guys in the second year. I think Schlegel is one of those guys. Maybe he wasnt better or enough better than an 8(Barton) year pro or a 5 year pro (Kassell) in his rookie year to break into the starting rotation -- that wouldnt be shocking and it wouldnt be an indication that he wont be there next season.

The ST thing with Spencer is just stupid. He is a special teams specialist. He fills a position of his own. He was not brought in to play Defense. He and Schlegel did not compete for playing time. Spencer was brought in and paid to be a 1st string special teamer.

Since when is Barton being shopped? I really haven't heard that. That's probably just speculation, just as the Vilma trade rumors are.

If he is, it's due to his huge contract numbers, not his play.

And I do belive everything I said.

Fine, just don't call him a bust. That's a terrible statement.

Carson Palmer, picked 1st overall in 2003, didn't take a snap in 2003. Jon Kitna played over him as a rookie and.... I think you see where I'm going with this.

So you wouldn't complain about the first overall pick not beating out Jon Kitna for a starting job, but Anthony Schlegal not starting or playing too much on defense makes him a bust? Is that about what you're saying?

Oh, so they told him to get blown off the ball and not tie up blockers. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I always thought a NT was supposed to tie up blockers and stand his ground. This must be a new type of NT we have here.

Just how many LB's do you think should be active on gameday? In order for him to rotate in, one of those other LB's would have to be inactive since they needed the roster spots for other positions. Kassell was the backup ILB & ST, Chatham was the backup OLB & ST, and Spencer was strictly ST.

Once again another fair weather fan that only looks at sacks and if a player has no sacks he had a bad year. Dewayne never played NT in his entire playing career and prior to the bye week the entire defense including Dewayne played awful. After that the Jets defense played as well as any team in the league except for the Buffalo game. Do me a favor, go back and watch the Jets @ Patriots, Jets @ Packers and the other home games and you will see that Dewayne was unblockable. DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE YOU DESIDE TO REAM SOMEONE OUT

Unblockable? Hardly. He played well at times, but other times was blown off the ball several yards easily. Our whole DL were. The DL is the weak link on that defense.

And go back and read what I wrote again. Where did I say anything about sacks? I didn't, so I have no idea where you're getting that from. You might want to take your own advice.

Take off your DROB jersey, take down your DROB posters, and watch the games again. He was blown off the ball a lot. He played better towards the end of the year, but still was not this all-world NT that you're making him out to be.

DRob also had a great game vs. Minnesota (which I flew in for). He was unstoppable that game. I just also saw that he'll turn 26 during the 2007 season. I know he's got a bad knee, but he's still relatively young. Hopefully, with more seasoning and Dan Quinn's tutelage, he'll continue making strides as an NT.

The only guy that got consistently blown off the line was Kimo. If you look at most of the games the Jets got run on they doubled Dewayne and ran to Kimo's side. You're the type of guy that says if Shaq has a bad game its all his fault because you didn't take the time to see he was triple teamed the entire game and they were shutting off all the passing lanes

I must be a good marketer, as you remember me. Not for nothing, but I would not have chosen a picture of T. Jones dusting the Jets if I was picking your avatar. He's making Kimo Von Oldguy look just that.
