Rhodes for Boldin ....then trade Boldin somewhere else for another need.

The Bears have already begun contract negotiations with free agent FS Antrel Rolle.
It's been just hours since the Cardinals released him, to the Bears are getting down to business promptly. Ideally, they'll have Rolle signed up before the free agent market opens at midnight ET, and be able to turn their attention to DE Julius Peppers at that point. According to the Chicago Tribune, a deal with Rolle "could be in place within the next few hours

If he was cut then I believe they can go after him now. The tampering issue is only when a player is still under contract with another team whose contract will be expiring at midnight. If he's cut, I'm pretty sure anyone can sign him now. But I could be mistaken :wink:

I mean a 3rd for Rhodes kinda sucks when we dont have a filler.

Maybe a 2nd or a 3rd/5th or something would work, but without Rolle wed really just be shooting ourselves in the foot.

 

i don't think we could get a 3rd for rhodes.between the labor unrest ,overall depth of the draft and the economics what they are right now most teams would rather have the dragt picks.the only teams tat are gonna spend money are chicago,who don't have a first or second round pick and washington,dan snyder enough said.

Maybe Arizona unloads boldin and then comes calling but right now i'm betting we see rhodes in green and white in 2010

 

I think the 3rd for Rhodes is just speculation, and is not necessarily what we are asking for. I think the only way we get rid of Rhodes is if we find a replacement for him before the draft not named Eric Smith
