Shouldn't be that hard. Given that money talks, we have the #1 defense, and damn nearly all players love Rex, I think the Jets can get whoever they want if they really want to...
Holy shit!! Thats pretty interesting, if Boldin wasn't a whiny bitch I would be ecstatic! But for now I'm just excited, I'm a little confused, I would think Boldin is worth a second rounder, so why a third or Boldin, I guess they just want to get him the fuck out of there, ehh well I say go for the pick, but I'd much rather it be a second, but if they nab Boldin, I have no problem.
The two things that scare me about getting Rolle though is that he is from the U and he's said he'd love to play for the Dolphins. Secondly those contract demands might scare us off a bit causing us to bid lower and a psychotic GM to bid way too much for the kid. Obviously if he wants to improve his game the right move is to join the Jets and Rex and Pettine but you never know what could be going through his mind. All in all lets hope we pick him up for the right price. Would love to see him in some gang green .
If the Jets skip on Boldin and take the 3rd is there anyway the Jets can milk a 4th or 5th out of the Cards or maybe Swap our 5th with there 4th?
I really really don't want Boldin. I'd rather reinforce the defense. Braylon will have a whole offseason train routes with GQ which will make him more viable. Like I said before, if Brian Westbrook were a WR, his name would be Anquan Boldin.
I don't want Boldin. He turns 30 next year and he has not played a full season since 2006 and only two full seasons in his entire career. That kind of injury history only gets worse after 30. In the event that the Jets somehow wind up acquiring him and giving him a long-term contract then we have a problem, because Jerrico Cotchery is absolutely necessary in the Jets offense as the main Mark Sanchez outlet. Probably the answer at that point is to work out a sign-and-trade with Edwards where we get back something approaching a 2nd round pick for him, hopefully a bit better than that. Then we'd have the problem of what to do when Boldin went down next year, but that would be much better than trying to live with Boldin and Edwards splitting a WR spot or the most disastrous scenario of limiting Cotchery's role so that the other two could play. The simplest answer for the Jets by a long shot is just to not acquire Boldin. When you have a team that is aging in some important places and recovering from significant injuries in others the last thing you want to do is add an aging, injury-prone player at another position to compound the existing problems.
According to NFL Network's Mike Lombardi, the Cardinals' asking price for Anquan Boldin is a third-round pick. While Boldin is going on 30 and would likely require a pricey multi-year commitment, Arizona's demands appear to be plenty reasonable. Fellow trade candidate Brandon Marshall is roughly four years younger, but presents far more knucklehead factor, would ask for more money, and costs a first-round pick. The Cards will find plenty of suitors if Lombardi's report is true. Sounds like theyre shopping Boldin so hopefully we dont get him. Hes a waste for us
They've been shopping Boldin for years, this isn't a surprise. It's just that the Cardinals are now thinking now or never in terms of making a move on Boldin, so they're trading for him. If we didn't have Edwards, I'd be all in favor of making a move for Boldin. But we do. So it would be stupid.
Because Boldin is much better than Edwards, because every single second that Sanchez throws it deep to Edwards we have to worry that his head is in the game, and as for Cotchery you make it sound like we've never used 3 WR sets, we'd probably mix and match so much that he and the other 2 WRs get plenty of plays per game. And if Edwards is unhappy then we could let his ass go after the season. And plus in the slot Cotchery would probably get a much easier time getting open against nickel CBs.
This is all IF Boldin stays healthy. I'll be happy either way with this trade... but I'd prefer the pick.
In 14 games with us last season, our "#1" WR 41 rec 697 yds 5 TDs Nothing about that says anything like #1 WR and he has only had one season worthy of #1 WR, Anquan Boldin has never had a season that bad even with his injuries
...but he wouldn't be on the field enough. J-Co isn't a slot receiver. You really want to spend more draft picks on one position? Think about it. It'd be an absolutely awful decision to make a trade for another receiver. It would be a huge slap in the face for Braylon Edwards. Whether you like it or not, Edwards is here for another season. Trading for Anquan Boldin would be a horrible move.
Look I get that you hate the guy because he's a Wolverine player, but these knocks are absolutely retarded. Our offense, which was led by a ROOKIE quarterback, threw the football less than practically every team in the league. Braylon Edwards had to have things simplified because he was acquired after the season started. Sanchez and Edwards had absolutely no feel for one another for most of the season. Boldin's never done this: 80 receptions for 1289 yards and 16 TDs. Braylon Edwards made Derek fuckin' Anderson look like a good quarterback. Anquan Boldin isn't a #1 receiver. He benefits from playing opposite Larry Fitzgerald and from great quarterback play. Boldin's certainly a talented and productive player, but he's not needed here.
Sure he would be, with the precarious situations with the health of our RBs it would be risky to rush the amount of times that we ran it last year, it isn't a draft pick that we are spending it is a safety that we are going to replace anyway. And Schotty would try to make that work or switch things around. I don't think of it as a slap in the face I think of it as getting one step closer to a Lombardi Trophy that we were so close to even with all our problems on offense. Boldin for Rhodes and at worst a late pick would be a no-brainer move.
This is a run first offense, and that's not going to change. Just because we only have two backs on the roster now, doesn't mean it'll be that way in September. This offense is going to pass the ball out of two wide receiver sets with an option of having Keller split out into the slot. We're going to run the football...it's just what we do. At this point, Kerry Rhodes is a draft pick. ...instead of trading him for ANOTHER receiver, we can acquire another pick by shipping Rhodes out of town and use it on a position of need.
Great one year played 3 years ago, the problem is that we haven't seen that player since, it isn't just due to the Rookie QB it is also due to Edwards horrible inconsistency where he would disappear for games. Without Fitzgerald with Jeff Blake and Josh McCown throwing him the ball, 101 reps for 1,377 yds and 8 TDs. Edwards couldn't touch Boldin's jock strap.
