"I was all in on Zach when we picked him, all of last year, and up until he played his first snaps without a red jersey on this year...BUT, an awful pick, and a non contact injury later, I am out" You can't be all in on a player with all of these minor injuries, to just finally throw the towel in on him after a freak non-contact injury. That's an asinine take. Couple that with the "he threw a bad pass in a preseason game". Like what?
Yeah, I don't agree with that bit. I don't think anyone should be fully out on Zach until the end of this season.
Zach is looking pretty good... light running... no brace(if that's applicable). Who we playing week 3?
Wilson doesn’t look comfortable running at full speed yet. Hope he just takes his time back so we get 100 percent ZW
Bengals. A very good team for Zach as at least last year they played a ton of zone and Zach did much better against zone coverage as did all our QBs.
the body of work plus his injury history as a smaller player... The pre season game coupled with a horrible year 1, injury history in high school, college, both years as a pro...I would love to be wrong, but how often does a smaller player with injury history get more healthy as his career goes on?
He had one HS injury and one College injury as far as a know. Nothing out of the ordinary for a mobile QB. Becton had one ankle injury and came back two games later. Some make it sound they were both injured most of their College career. Sure as hell both evaluated by many CSs during the draft. What are we missing. Should we only be looking for players that have zero injuries in college as a go no go criteria? Since no one else apparently seem to have that problem. Lamar missed a few games each season if I recall, Zach and Wentz also comes to mind. Probably missing a bunch more. What’s the formula.
You keep calling him a smaller player. The average height for an NFL QB is 6'3. Zach is (wait for it) 6'3. The average weight for an NFL QB is 225 lbs. Zach was 221 lbs as of May 25. But hey, don't let facts get in the way of your opinion. https://webpages.uidaho.edu/~renaes...Avg. Height: 74.48 in Avg. Weight: 243.76 lbs
Even the end of this season I think is too soon to be completely out on him. If he doesn’t look better by season’s end then maybe it’s time to upgrade that backup position in the off-season to the point where you have someone of borderline starter quality just in case
Look, I am not fully out on Zach. But people are bringing up Allen and now Lamar. Come on, Lamar has won an MVP and takes his team to the PLAYOFFS. Allen, good gosh, he was there for the plucking and we screwed that right up. You guys are mentioning these other QB'S the difference is they have ACCOMPLISHED something in the NFL. Zach has proven dick shit, even after he returned from injury he was these amazing QB. But yall keep the comparisons coming. Maybe you should wait until the kid does something significant in the NFL
Zach is 6'2" 218. He is not 6-3, and he later said playing weight was down to 218. So, he is little bit below average to be fair, but very close to average and not small, as you pointed out. I don't think the injuries had anything to do with size, particularly this year when he actually bulked up. I am still hoping, given that he didn't really have anything serious, is that he will not be missing more than a hand full of game each year.
We were talking about injuries period. Time off the field. Zach is not the only one. That’s all. Im not comparing him to any of them. It was in response to the injury prone BS.
We’ll he missed 4 games last year and at least three games this year…hope he doesn’t miss any more but so far into his young career he has not been an iron man…
