Ha, yeah.... and boat needs 100hr motor service, and a new bilge pump hooked up Bait run is starting early this year, surf was full of mullet... and bigger fishies chasing them
Ok. Here we go. Conner Hughes felt the jets knew Zach would not play to f with the Ravens. If so, why say “ out till week 4?” If the jets were deceiving other teams, maybe Zach makes a surprise return in week 2-3 when the other team prepped for Flacco? Alternatively, Conner was throwing shit at the wall. My take, we knew Brown may have shoulder issues and Fant also listed as limited so we decided Flacco could better handle getting ball out fast or we don’t care if Flacco killed but we will protect Zach until line is better/jells.
Indy is approaching the problem in a way I wish we would have. Until there's an opp for an Andrew Luck kind of blue chipper, they pick up a vet for a year or two. Last 3 years they had Rivers, Wentz, and now Ryan. Last year would have been a problem for us but if we traded the #2 pick we would have hauled a fortune and had a heck of a squad sans QB. This year we would have picked up either Baker or Jimmy G. Seriously, we would be playoff contenders--we may even have been playoff contenders this year even while drafting ZW if we just had the foresight to pick up Baker. But that is all water under the bridge now--the thing I'm saying is we don't have to draft a QB and we can play the Indy format until a lock comes thru--we have a decent squad elsewise.
Rather have traded for Minshew than Baker or Jimmy G and we would still make the play-offs in your scenario. #2 was always going to be a valuable pick and something else to use as a weapon if Wilson flops.
I keep hearing about how young Zach is and that we just need to give him a chance. On top of his poor performance he is now developing an injury history. Using the same logic I would say to use the beginning of this lost season to give Mike White some reps. We know that Joe Flacco isn't the future. If our other young QB succeeds we don't go back to the drawing board using next year's high draft pick on yet another QB.
That's certainly a reasonable approach but the problem I have with it is that wile it might allow them to become playoff contenders, it will also drop them farther back in the draft order making it much more difficult to be able to get a Manning or a Luck without giving up a huge amount of assets. Plus, as soon as the Jets become even "one and done" contenders, the urgency and commitment to complete the rebuild properly goes away and we're left with at best perennial playoff hopeful, but championship doubtful teams. I hope they give Zach this year and next to prove for sure that he either is, or isn't, a championship quality QB. If the answer is "No, he isn't", then I hope they go hard after a proven winning QB to add to what should be a playoff caliber and experienced roster.
All I can say is I'm rapidly losing patience with Saleh. This guy seems to be an idiot? I'll never forget the GD shellacking we took at New England after the bye. If you can't play better after having 2 weeks to prepare then you have no business being a HC. Now this crap pertaining to Zach's timeline. It's a very good question actually.... HTF does 2-4 weeks become 8 weeks? Now is the NY media a bunch of pussies or are they going to get to the bottom of this? What about Becton’s timeline last season? WTF happened there? Then to have the audacity to say, "I don't want to talk about it". If you can't handle the heat GTF out of the kitchen. Anyhow, all I can say is the honeymoon period is OVER. This is not a good look for a 2nd year HC. Perhaps JD should shitcan him and hire a person with experience?
Absolutely. Always liked the idea of trading the 2 last year and Darnold whilst picking up Minshew. I suspect as a fan base the Suck for X mentality is part of the problem. Don't suck for anyone ( good life advice generally ) but get the best guy available to fill in and if someone drops to you who you really believe in via the draft then go ahead and pull the trigger.
Although the way things have been trending I'm not sure we can confidently bet the farm we'll see him for 14 games. Starting to feel like we might be lucky to see him for a half dozen, and likely not consecutive at that.
Agree or not, JD and Saleh apparently believed (and still do) that Zach was the guy they wanted. I still think he can be that guy but he does have to prove it on the field - including being on the field, not on crutches or whatever.
Nice to see Zach on the practice field. Disappointed that they're starting Flacko again... wish they'd go with White.
