We all knew Zach was more than likely going to miss at least two games and were happy with that the day after he was injured when we thought it was an ACL. Yet still, the way they communicate news to us just makes it seem like no matter what, we can not escape Fuckville. Always headed to Fuckville....
Rappaport made reference to the many injuries the knee has had, the surgery was good but it's the bone bruise holding things a bit from what he said. I don't know, with Salehs timelines wouldnt be shocked if Wilson is back week 2
This thread has put this message board into one of the more vulgar, profanity-laced forums I've bumped into in quite a while.
I scrubbed a thousand of these...they are NEVER...NEVER..4 weeks of healing...at least 6...some months more. Depends on how rough they go at it, how much meniscus is removed. He will definitely have an earlier onset of arthritis from it. That bone bruise could turn into something later too, depending how hard a wack it took. 6 to 8 weeks....minimum. I totally expected this.
my guess is when he says "body and mind" it's him mentally feeling ok with the knee. they can short term IR him which puts him out 4 weeks which may be a couple extra.
Am I right in thinking he said the same thing with the injury last year. Wanted him to be confident with the knee so he wasn't thinking about it before he played.
It is a pretty bad blow to a struggling fan base looking for some hope and a reason to be excited about this season and the future. If the FO had told us 3 weeks ago and set expectations that Wilson would likely be out the first 3 to 4 weeks there would likely be a lot less disappointment. Being a Jet fan for 50+ years I feel like I have seen this story over and over like some kind of evil twisted version of Groundhog day. I can see why people are upset and pissed. But come 4 days from now we will have a real live football game to watch. Regardless of what happens in that game that is something to be excited about. We have a revamped roster with 11 to 13 new starters. Tons of new young talent. Yes, it might all piss away but it is still something to be excited about. It is very hard to be optimistic right now but it should be interesting to watch this young team develop. There will be adversity all year but hopefully some positives to give us hope for the future. We are Jet fans, that will never be easy but hopefully it will get a bit better.
Giving up on Zach makes no sense. I get the fans lack patience but he looks like he is going to be a good QB. Definitely need to give him a chance. If he comes back Week 4, that is still plenty of time to get an evaluation of his ability. It is unfortunate that the big knock on him was durability and now he will have been injured his first two seasons though.
Yeah, this sucks but it's not going to be the difference between us having enough evidence to make a call on Zach at the end of the season or not. If he misses significantly more time it gets dicey but him playing 14 games vs. 17 shouldn't matter in our ability to judge his season.
