I agree...but they went 8-8 last year and it wasn't a 'lucky' 8-8, they were a team that could have gone 6-10 or even 10-6.

    This year was Next Year.

So.....why the f*** would you leave $20,000,000 in cap space ?

I think Woody and the business people called the shot on that one. Woody has lost alot of money -- or more accurately, made alot LESS money -- than the projections he had when MetLife was going to be built:
    • PSL sales were a disaster. First, they couldn't sell out the Top 1/3rd. Then they had unsold PSLs in the 2 lower sections -- even after 2 (or 3 ?) price cuts. They STILL have unsold PSLs, right ?
    • They got much less for the naming rights to MetLife and have to split it with the NYG.
    • The financial crash hit premium seat and suite sales. I have hearf of suites going for 50 cents on the dollar compared to the amount forecasted 5-6 years ago (not confirmed, but I do have a contact who knows The Bigwigs who attend games and he's been dead-on. I'll pump him for info next time I see him).
    • Ancilliary sales -- food, concessions, parking, merchandise -- not up to snuff.
Add it all up, and Woody probably said he wasn't going to make up an operating shortfall (that is, LESS profit in his pocket) compared to forecast.

I find it hard to believe but I can't see any other reason why WJ wouldn't spend on a team. It's not like he just bought them and paid $1.8 billion and needs to service the debt....the team is paid for. But it appears the last 2 years he's told Idzik not to spend.

Ok..but what do all of those picks..well most..have in common? They were top 1 or 2 draft picks. You could use a magazine about the draft get a lot of those picks. Even with that said, would give Idzik Richardson. Coples? Dont get me started on him...I really believe he is the single guy holding this d back from being elite..along with 2 cbs. Slauson? not a fan...look at Mangold and Dbrick..again..all high picks.

Now I know, you could pick wrong with a Gholston high..oops. My main point about Idzik is this past draft reeks to high heaven right now. In a draft strong with receivers, the ones he picked have shown nothing even in preseason. To have 12 picks, it was a horrible draft and Idzik right now is resting on Richardson and Smith as his second round pick and that pick remains to be seen but its struggling big time.

Selfish I am...but I want a talent guy..not a cap guy for a GM. I have had it with cap guys. Cap guys either pull a Tanny and abuse it by pretending to be talent guys...or end up with 20 million in the bank collecting intrest and sign not even 2 average dbs.

2 average dbs become above average dbs with the pressure we put on the qb...and I know it..you know it...and we would hope Idzik should have known he did not need to break any banks to improve the secondary. Many of us could have lived with 14 million in cap space and 2 solid dbs this year.
