Teams have been running down our throat for years. Especially SINCE we traded up to get him. We thought we were getting a franchise defensive tackle, or at the very least a perennial probowler. He has been average at best. If we thought we were getting an average player we could have signed two average players in the first round that year. That is why he's a bust. A bust doesn't have to fall flat on his face or spend time on the shelf.
Yes, it was Michael Haynes, Rex Grossman and some guy that's out of the league right now (5th rounder?). We definitely got the better end of the deal on that one. As bad as our QB situation is, Chicago's is a lot worse. Of course, if Chicago chose Polamalu and Asomugha instead, it would be a different story. It's interesting that the 2003 draft class is coming into FA this year. Franchised players Suggs, Trufant, Asomugha are all 1st-rounders from that class.
It isn't his knee, jeez. Cincinnati just sucks at negotiating contracts. DRob's trade isn't the only one that fell through for them.
Interesting fact about the 2003 draft, not one DT made the Pro-Bowl since... the weakest class i have ever seen at that position.
