Schotty Jr. is a genius! I can think of about 100 plays that made me want to kill myself this year, thus I disagree.
The Schefter piece was saying that Schotty wouldn't want to stick around if they pick Ryan over him. And that around the league they are watching with interest, and he'll probably be able to get an offer somewhere. So in other words the idea of Ryan AND Schotty probably won't happen, it's either/or.
Well if you believe the Steelers and the Patriots method works then the owner hires both the GM and the coach and they both report to him directly. Actually neither the Steelers or the Patriots have a GM. Steelers have a DoFO and the Patriots have a VP of Player Personnel.
Umm I don't know what to say. I mean I don't necessarily want Schott to go if Ryan comes. I feel like Ryan would ask Schott to come up with some ballsy plays unlike Mangina probably not allowing him to call anything good. I feel like Rex will need a OC thats been here and knows this offense. It would be a help to a defensive minded guy. Unless someone else is around, I'm afraid to say it...I want Schott back as OC.
If Mr T was worried about fan reaction he wouldn't be advocating for Schottenheimer - would he? Maybe it's Woody who is worried about public reaction. Schottenheimer has impressed alot of people - including Miami and the Ravens. Some guys are better HC material than position coaches - see Parcells.
If Tannenbaum(and/or others in the org) is pushing for Schottenheimer then Schottenheimer should be the head coach right now. Woody shouldn't be in the way here
Fantastic news. Scheffter is always spot on. If this is true, and Schotty doesn't come back... hopefully that leads to Favre retiring or going somewhere else which would make this one of the best moves ever. With him off of the cap, the Jets can sign one of those Ravens free agents. The idea of Chris McAlister is intriguing but it'll be interesting to see how much he commands.
What leads you to believe that BS is going to be good? Look at him? Look at your avatar. He looks like he should be making pizza at Little Siezures. I get no sort of leadership feeling from him. He can tweak Xs and Os all he wants, but it takes far more than that to lead a bunch of twenty-something millionaires. They'd walk all over him.
Just for arguments sake, I think most of us would agree that Shotty's calls and game plans were aggressive and innovative his first season. So would somebody explain to me why then would Mangini all of a sudden put the shackles on him and not allow him to be successful like he was year 1? Truth is, nobody accept for mangini/Shotty and probably Mr. T really know what the truth is. Everybody else is just guessing and trying to manipulate information to fit their story...
Well, both the offense and the defense took risks and were unpredictable their first years, with the last two years degrading into predictability and conservatism. It technically makes more sense for Mangini to have been shackling the coordinators (Both of them) than for both coordinators to be messing up in the same way with the same progression at the same time.
So woody is making a good move I guess that means 1/2 this board that hates woody so much are going to have to back pedal. I cant wait for this staff to get in place so some of the stupidity on this board can go away
Callahan seems like a textbook example of the Peter Principle at work. He flubbed being an HC, particularly at Oakland, but before that was actually a very good OC.
Unlike you, who is the same tool everyday. I don't like being mean...ok yes I do, but really.....do you have a history of domestic violence?
You need a hobby. You're more concerned with the "stupidity" of people on a message board than you are who coaches the team. Both are pretty minute in the grand scheme but hey....coaches matter....posters don't.
