Lets see who replaces him. At least he was mediocre where as the direction this team is heading the replacement will suck more.
Face it, he's been nothing short of mediocre since Sanchez' first two seasons when yes, he was a security blanket. And it's not just because the offense got worse... not to mention he's PART of the reason they got worse. He was routinely dropping balls this season when "healthy". I like Keller, for the first two years I thought he was going to turn into one hell of a tight end. Turns out, he didn't. As a rebuilding team, I think it would be dumb to dole out money to a mediocre tight end that had year long hamstring issues (see: Miles Austin and how that injury lingered).
If you think his first 2 years were better than 2010/2011 IDK what to tell you, more TDs, Muuch more yards, MUCH more catches, and much better Target/Drop rate. But it seems like he's declining according to you with another certain player who controls the offense more and is more responsible of a WR/TE production than themselves.. I wonder who that is...hmy:
There is little doubt the Jets will suck in 2013. This year is basically a roster/cap purge year. I don't think the Fins are upgrading much here either. He's a little better as a receiver but a much worse blocker than Fasano was.
Good riddance, I always hated that he couldn't block for his life. But at the rate we're going to have zero talent left on this team.
What does the Jets not over paying for a slightly above average player in a rebuilding year have to do with your question?
If Keller was performing at an above average rate with Sanchez as your QB, I can only imagine what he is capable of with a better QB throwing to him, like Ryan Tannehill
The NYJets draft poorly and dont evaluate talent too well. They continue the losing ways since 1969. Keller will go on to have a great career like many others Farrior,Vilma,Abraham etc etc..........
He'll probably turn into Jimmy Graham with Bree ... I mean the great Ryan Tannehill throwing to him. Or he'll continue to be a pretty good receiver who couldn't block BeastBeach.
I know right. Who gives a shit. Miami is not going to get anywhere either way LOL They beat us and get wild card, then they will lose in the playoffs.
Weird I though you guys were retooling at least that's what jet fans were saying heading into this off season after last season
Still, Dustin Keller is a great TE in this league that a lot of teams would love to have. I am glad the Dolphins are going to get him. As for your comment, I just think it's bad luck. The division in the 70's was dominated by Miami with the perfect season and the SB teams, then immediately after, the Dolphins draft the GOAT QB in the 82 or 83 draft in Dan Marino and continue to be an obstacle in your division until the late 90's. Finally Marino retires, and here comes another Hall of Fame QB in Tom Brady in your division, this time for the Patriots. The Jets have had to deal with way too much talent in their division for far too long. The one year the Patriots screwed up, in 09-10, you ran into Peyton Manning. I'd have to say, the real reason you haven't had much success is you haven't had a HoF QB since Joe Namath.
If that's what you think of Dustin Keller, I can only imagine the horrible things you say about Mark Sanchez. Dustin Keller's numbers show the facts, last season is not his fault.
