I agree. But even with Wallace, Hartline, Bess that should be enough to get it done. Hartline got 1000 yds last year being covered by 1s so I expect him to get a little more separation this year on 2s and having a year in the bag with Tannehill. Obviously I don't necessarily expect him to get 1000 yds again as he won't be the primary target but I'd like for him to get some more TDs.
That and he has to have a little more respect from defenses now ... Also Bess would have likely been right at 1000 yards if he had played the final 3 games.
Not really. Ellerby and Wheeler are upgrades over Dansby and Burnett and they have more upside for the future. The signing of these two players had no effect on our cap number. As a matter of fact by releasing Dansby we saved 3 Mill in this years cap and we will save in future caps. Wallace may not be a top 10 receiver but he was one of the top receivers available in the FA. Knowing that we needed a deep threat it is a good signing with a slight overpay which you usually do on FA. Bush was unwilling to renegotiate. Just like Wallace in Pittsburgh. But in your mind we got crap while Bush was the second coming. Believe me, someone will be overpaying for Bush too. I see much more upside in Lamar Miller anyways. I follow the Canes as well. Lamar is just another product of great U of M running backs who is following Gore, McGahee, James, Portis etc. Lamar will see extensive action next year. Our running back position got better through subtraction. If you want to make a case of 'spending to much' and how we will regret it: we still have plenty left in this year's cap and we reduced our cap numbers for the next couple years. We got better on some key position, added the deep threat we wanted, still have a lot of cap money left and the draft to fill other holes. It was day 1 of the FA period.
what the fuck dustin? also, one major point you are missing about wallaces stats is the guy tossin the ball... big ben is kinda good at extending plays and all that. santonio holmes was once super bowl mvp with that offense. wallace is good no doubt but will he be put in the right position to succeed?
I've seen tannehill extend plays a lot last year, that helped our offense and hartlines stats a lot. He also has a canon for an arm so that helps. We shall see tho watching some of his highlights here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6RzY7v5g_s can't help but notice how many times he was underthrowned.
Per Ian Wharton (@IanWhart0n) "Dolphins and TE Dustin Keller are negotiating now. A deal is dependent on his physical."
But then you have this from Armando Salguero ... "Source texts me the Dolphins plan to give Dustin Keller the full treatment. Meet. Dinner at nice place. I ask if he'll be signing. Crickets." @ArmandoSalguero
Wow, I have been posting here for a while and never bring up the Phins not only to avoid bad feelings, but I am a guest and love talking football with fans of all teams. I'm so insulted
Keller was a bust by the way. Huge bust. Disappointing. He looked capable of being a top TE, yet never did. He showed flashes here and there, but was never consistant.
So Wallace, Hartline, and Bess will all go for 1000 plus. Keller is good for 700. give 500 to the RBs and 400 to misc receivers. Tannehill has a chance to surpass 5000 yards!
