I think the Dolphins are spending mass amounts of money on positions that are not necessarily the answer. They severely overpaid Wallace, who at times is a good wide receiver. Definitely not top 10 and not a very good route runner. They overpaid Elerby who in 4 seasons has one interception and one forced fumble. Will he make an impact? I honestly don't think so at all. Not quite sure what that whole signing was about. They signed Wheeler. I have absolutely no clue what this was for. They made zero moves at corner, but go after a guy who has jumped around from team to team? I am at a loss with this one. They are now going after Keller, who is not a "great" TE and they most likely will overpay him also. They have not addressed the tackle position, the corner position, the RB position. They are in the same division as NE, yet they just lost their best corner and signed a LB who has done nothing in 4 years. They lost one of their biggest play-makers in Bush and are relying on a guy to take the load who averages 3.x ypc. They sure as hell have made a big splash, but I think they shot themselves in the foot. The fact is simple. Ireland is in a contract year and he needs to make a move now. I think he overpaid and severely messed up on this one.
Paying sean smith the money he wants would be a huge mistake. He's a garbage corner, Keller is an upgrade, Walace is a huge upgrade over something we never had, and those LBs are upgrades over aging LBs who were going to take big $$ from the cap next year. (saved 15 Mil releasing them). Bush although a playmaker too an extent is not a must resign we will give his place to Lamar Miller who hd 4.9 yds per carry not 3. We still have a draft coming up incase you didn't know to fill those holes where we have 5 picks in the first 3 rounds.
We are talking about last year are we not? where we were 7-9 2nd in the division? A better season than we ever had with marshall. Yes Wallace is filling a spot we never had last year. By your logic why are you guys thinking of getting rid of sanchez since you guys just went to the AFCCG last season LOL
You keep saying that, but all you did was sign big names and lose other names. You signed Wallace, Elerby, Wheeler, and possibly Keller. You lost Bush, Dansby, Smith, most likely Long, Fasano. Yes, your receiving corp will be nice, but with all the corners out there right now, you guys shot yourselves in the foot. This is a pass happy league now and you settled for guys who won't help you in the pass. You also are overlooking your OL. Losing Long is HUGE. Not to mention you still have a QB who is not anywhere near special and quite frankly, I believe is a bust.
We didn't go to the AFCCG last season LOL We went in 2009 and 2010. And we went because we had an arsenal of talent around him to flourish. No one logical on here is wanting to get rid of Sanchez right now. Why? Because his cap hit would be absurd
Dansby who is 32 and will take a 11mil cap hit next year is not a loss if we replace him with Eleby, Fasano is not a loss to any team in the league and is easily replaceable by any TE in the draft and keller is an upgrade over him in the passing game easily. Smith I'm glad we're not signing the overrated loser with stone hands that gone burned twice on sundays. Bush will be replace by lamar miller who in my opinion is a good replacement and show promise. Long although a loss was in a decline and if you know anything about the dolphins, he doesn't fit our scheme that we run now, so drafting a lineman that does will help. We currently have 20 mil in the cap with the draft coming up (5 picks in the first 3 rounds) so I don't see how you make it sound we have a game next week.
To go along with 8 TDs while having a merry go round of QBs throwing to him and transitioning to a new offense that is designed to utilize numerous targets. Still resulted in 836 yards and 8 TDs. 32 TDs in 4 years. Leads the league in TDs over 39 yards with 19 since joining the league. I'll take it. Everyone overpays for players except the team you root for.
I don't understand why we would want to improve the inside blitz by signing two younger and faster guys and in doing that and releasing Dansby and Burnett they save 2.5 million. Idiots. Seriously, they have 5 picks in the first 3 rounds and a more cap space. It's only one day in to the new season and the moves they are making have been good.
Lol, by the the way I wasn't trying to sound offensive I was just saying that I think the spots we have will mostly be filled in the draft. I don't see us filling everything up because well... every team has their wholes. But let's hijack this topic to this bromance: Jeff Darlington @JeffDarlington Mike Wallace had dinner with Ryan Tannehill last night. Good for Tannehill. Smart move by a young quarterback. Chemistry is critical.
With all those questonable/bad moves the fins are still 22mil under the cap and have all there draft choises! Move moves to come!
Did you see Ellerbe last year? Not trying to be rude but he was a beast last year after getting a chance to do more last year. He had 2 less tackles and 1 more FF/3.5 more sacks in 3 games LESS than Dansby who is 32 and will take an 11 mil cap hit last year. If he continues to play like he did last year, he is a big upgrade. Go see the ravens meltdown they had when we signed him lol
I like the signings but we really need to start hitting on our 2nd/3rd round draft picks if we want to be consistent playoff contenders. And we need to see Tannehill step it up now that he has a weapon that can blow the top off the D. No excuses this year.
We still need to sign somebody else than wallace imo . Keller hasn't sign yet so our tidends are still clay/egnob
