Keller visited Miami & left without a contract. Considering this happened after Cook's signing, my guess is that Keller has similar expectations on new contract & obviously Miami disagreed. Keller is the same guy who stated publicly that he's hoping Jets don't use their franchise tag on him. I'd expect Keller to shop around for about a week until reality hits. Then he'll visit again with more realistic numbers.
if he is only being offered a 1 year contract around the league,i dont see why we shouldnt scoop him back up.
Rich Cimini @RichCimini Looks like TE Dustin Keller signing with the Dolphins, per his brother's tweets. #Jets
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter Former Jets TE Dustin Keller reached agreement on a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins.
Why piss away what is most likely going to be $5-6 mil on a guy who hasn't been all that impressive and hasn't progressed in the past 2 years when you are REBUILDING with minimal cap space to begin with? It makes absolutely no sense. There's a reason he had to settle for a one year deal too. Tells you what the market for him was. As always, New York fans overrate their own.
Keller signs with the Dolphins. Dolphins agreed to terms with TE Dustin Keller, formerly of the Jets, on a one-year contract. The Jets' latest defector will remain in the AFC East. The sides had been near an agreement for 48 hours, but Keller was holding out for a multi-year deal. He didn't get it, and now founds himself a part of a brazenly "all in" squad for 2013. Keller represents a major upgrade for a team that's had trouble getting the tight end position right in recent seasons, but is coming off a down campaign. Thanks to injuries and Mark Sanchez, Keller was limited to 28 catches for 317 yards and two touchdowns in eight games in 2012. A chain mover and a red-zone threat when healthy, Keller should find himself on the TE1 radar with Ryan Tannehill.
Keller was a good player for us when healthy, he wasn't healthy in 2012 which is why his #s were so down and abig reason why our offense was do down. A healthy keller(and Holmes) and we are having completely different discussions about the 2012 season right now.
Disagree. With those two healthy last year, maybe the offense isn't AS ugly, but it wouldn't have amounted to too much in the standings. Maybe a game or two.
It's a good pick up for Miami. Keller has a nice skillset. It's only one year so who cares what the money is like.
