Here's the scoop....NFL success = asses in seats and over-priced t shirts on ppl's bodies. In 1980, women accounted for 8% of NFL fans and 12% of NFL merchandize sales. In 2010 women accounted for 42% of NFL fans and 63% of all NFL merchandize sales. Allow me to ask you...if your wife or g/f were to encourage the purchase of season tics or purchase a t-shirt, which one would she spend more for: -or- Laugh all you want, but an 'attractive' face of a franchise adds 20%+ to the 'bottom line'. Winning 3 SB's in a row will do the same thing, but if neither QB is headed in that direction, Woody might just side with the cash cow, wins and losses be damned.
People, you need to realize that Sanchez despite his terrible play is on the team because of his contract. The company line is that he is being given a fair shot, but the team realizes he is not the future. No need getting yourselves worked up over the guy.
^^^ that being said, I think the BEST path for the Jets is: 1- Geno has a much higher ceiling than Sanchez, even if he's too raw to win the really tough games. Morningwood sees Geno as the future, but won't ruin him by inserting him day one. 2- Mark starts the season and goes 5-3, 6-2, 7-1 to the break. The more wins, the better. 3- On the last day of the trading dead line Idzik shocks the NFL world and trades a very successful Sanchez to (pick a team) for multiple pics, and inserts Geno into the line up with McElroyt as BU. 4- By mid-season, Geno is ready to take us to the promise land, and he does. 44 yr drought, in the books. 5- In the 2014 draft, Idzik trades his 1st round pick plus all his Sanchez booty for #1 pick Clowney. Jets go on to win 7 SB's in a row. 6- In 2020, Jets bring in 44 yr old Tom Brady for a try-out as back up to Geno. 7- Idzik cuts Brady after 1st pre-season game. The End.
Being a pretty boy only lasts so long if the player sucks, and attendance has dropped since the Jets (and Sanchez) have started to stink. The people that physically sitting at the games, in the cold weather, are the ones that want the team to win, not to just stare at Mark Sanchez's butt.
No doubt Sanchez has created some pretty bad stats. Still, the only stats I care about are W's and L's. If he helps the team win in 2013, good. If he can't: move on to Geno.
He outplayed Tom Terrific in his own house in a playoff game... Sent from my LG-VM670 using Tapatalk 2
That's actually not true at all. Sanchez played some of his best games in the playoffs. To take away his postseason success is not fair. He actually picked up the defense in some of these games. Look, I'm tired of Sanchez, but you cannot say he played poorly in the postseason.
Actually, I thought it was interesting that Vinny Testaverde is only 2 places above Sanchez. Vinny had some bad times in Tampa (and Cleveland/Balt) but I guess it never really registered how bad.
He has been good outside of ONE year, he's had some down moments in those other years but overall he was good in his first 3 years and much better than good in year 2 but the #s don't show it so fans don't know.
Fixed that for you. Your opinion isn't the reality of the situation. The reality is that he's been bad throughout his career.
That is your opinion though it's not a "fact". The fact is that Sanchez sucks and the stats show it. If I say Sanchez sucks I can show you the stats to back up my argument. You say "no Sanchez was good for a rookie, had a good 2nd year, an alright 3rd year and a bad 4th year" but the stats show otherwise. Now don't get me wrong stats do not tell the whole story. You have to watch the games, so this is coming from someone that has watched Sanchez since his rookie year. He's never been good. Did he have his moments? of course but the overall body of work leaves a lot to be desired.
Forum trolling doesn't make you educated. Since you throw out the "educated" line so much to troll people, why don't you all tell us how "educated" your opinions are and why you think they're more educated than "most" on here?
Ummm..because we have four pages of asinine commentary, on this chart? How about we go this way. Rewrite, the header.... And after you print that illiterate header.... Telll me what that chart says?
How many years educated "o" spam posts here did you make saying Herm was the greatest coach the Jets ever had and they would live to regret his leaving? Was it 3 or 4 years of non stop spam posting. I forget the crusade you went on after that. My apologies all your posts while well meaning blur together. My question is after Sanchez goes the Herm route what will be your next crusade? Bring back Vernon? Browning Nagle for the HoF? In all seriousness I really think unlike some other spam posters here you actually mean well. But I would not call your posts educated. Rather just the opposite. They are advocate posts rather than educated posts. Your posts are opinion and emotion driven. You reach your conclusion based on emotion then fill in whatever arguments you make up no matter how far fetched to support your conclusion. But despite your lack of logic and your continuous spamming of the forums I do respect your tenacity, your love of the team and your never give up no matter how much reality tells you that you are wrong attitude. You truly are a real Jet fan. If Sanchez only had your perseverance and willingness to fight he might make a decent NFL QB. Remember bad is good.
