Yes, he may end up closer to than Dieon than Revis in the tackling dept, but if he starts housing ints like prime I’ll take the trade off all day long
I don't think his technique is all that bad... and he does wrap up well with those long arms. He's not a safety... but he did knock Bridgewater out of the Miami game NFL Draft Buzz had this to say... Has safety like skills when it comes to defending the run - can even play in the box when pressed Tough tackler who hits hard and rarely misses a chance to make a stop
Those long arms do come in handy for wrapping up. He's gotten better at tackling since the beginning of the season, so it's not a major concern.
Sauce wins rookie of the week again for week 7 and defensive player of the week moving the Jets streak to 4 straight rookie of the week wins and 10 of the last 22 weeks.
He's building a great case for DROY. It can be tough for CB's statistically, but if he keeps sprinkling in splash plays I think he will win it. Deservedly so. Devin Lloyd on Jax also making a good case.
I would argue that our tandem is top 2-3 in the league worst case. Quantum jump in talent from last year
Yeah I had mentioned in another thread that we have the best secondary in the NFL. Especially over the last month.
PFF did it again. They upgraded a Jets' grade, after initially lo-balling him. This time Sauce. They had charged him with the Pats TD on Sunday. Watching it, they were obviously wrong, & today they fixed it!
Another great game by Sauce with a crucial INT. Another AFC Defensive Rookie of the week award incoming!!!!
I don't know he has to beat out Garret Wilson for the award. the real question is can one of our rookies win the rookie of the week award during our bye week?
Sauce defended Diggs in the last Bills play of the game that sealed us the win. I say both Diggs and Davis were victims today even though Diggs had over 90 yards receiving. He still failed against Sauce in the most meaningful play of the game for them
I didn't realize how that last pass hit the Bills receiver right in the numbers. We were fortunate he didn't catch it; I'm sure Sauce obstructed his vision. One thing I know about today's CB's, even good ones like DJ and Sauce: they don't seem to have the field presence that a Revis or Sherman had a decade ago to know when to stick their hands up. Lots of times the coverage is great....but the CB's around the NFL don't raise their arms. No ball awareness or ability to tell from the receiver when the ball is approaching.
IMO Sauce rookie season thuss far is better than Revis rookie season. Most likely already a pro bowler.
