I disagree. He would make such a difference on offense, and especially if we have a rookie QB, that it would be worth it. Draft picks are so unpredictable that using one or two to trade up isn't too steep a price to pay. It would be different if you could guarantee that every pick worked out, but the reality is that after the 2nd round, they're all crap shoots.
And they'll still be garbage. I want Barkley but he'll be gone. Bowles and Maccagnan also won't take him because Powell and McGuire were good.
We'll see with the Browns. Barkley will be gone however it's not like the Jets wouldn't draft him due to the presence of Powell and McGuire on the roster. Barkley is vastly superior to both.
And yet still find a way to get that next 0-16 parade. They’ve drafted more first round QB busts than I can count. They are a special kind of stupid up there
Drafting is not an exact science by any means, so the more picks you throw at it the better you chances of hitting are, unless your Cleveland. Moving up two spots would cost the equivalent of our third by the old chart, but moving around in the top ten has been more costly of late due to those charts were made before the rookie cap was a thing and the cost of the player is less prohibitive. Barkley is a gem, but I Justin don’t know if he’s worth costing a team with this little depth more depth. We should be able to land a hell of a player at 6 no matter what... unless Mac fucks it up but I believe there are 30 or so threads on that topic already.
Well I'm sure not an expert! But I've seen a lot of football over the years, and when you have a chance to get a difference-making player on offense, especially in the modern, offense-driven NFL, it pays to get him. And in Barkley's case, in addition to his immense talent, he's got a terrific attitude, not the typical "I'm great, so it's all about me" attitude that so many players have. Combining Barkley with one of the top QBs in this draft, or even a young FA with lots of upside, would instantly transform not only the offense, but the entire team. How much better would the "D" be if they didn't have to stay on the field so long? I think Rosen is a modern day Namath, but there are concerns about his durability. I would still grab him if the Jets could, but Barkley would be a close second choice, and I wouldn't be upset if they took him over Rosen, as long as they secured another top FQB-caliber QB.
It would not surprise me at all, Kizer isn't that bad and has actually looked good at times, will they really dump him after a season ? I see them taking the RB and then filling in areas of need and not trading down this season, they can't keep losing all their games, two seasons is fine but you have to then show some modicum of improvement or the natives will get restless.
