Yeah, with a FULL season of games under his belt. Run down the list of other top 5 QBs taken in the past decade and tell me how many of them rely on the "It's only my 2nd year" excuse." Aside from Eli, every single other QB taken in the top 5 has panned out almost immediately. THose that didn't? WE call them busts. Now, I'm not saying that Sanchez is a bust, but to question whether he's got "it" is far from idiotic.
You might wanna check your woodwork. We've been here all along. Nobody said anything about cutting Sanchez except YOU. Last year is Last year and it don't mean shit for this year. If Sanchez was anybody else, his ass would have been benched for poor play lately. Maybe not for an entire game, but for a series or two definetly. They need to stop babying this Kid and treat him like a NFL player. You play poorly, you will lose your job.
The Jets blew plenty of opportunities, but the Dolphins played excellent defense also. Gotta give them credit.
He reminds me a lot of Rick Mirer... Mirer's career was remarkably similar to Sanchez's thus far. Sanchez is going to be a bust..... It happens... If the Jets are smart they don't let him set them back five years.
I believe Schotty is the problem here..Yes, Sanchez has not been great, he's been downright bad..but geez Schotty's plays are very questionable..it's pouring rain, bad to throw the ball and catch..wtf! is Sanchez throwing! I just don't get it.
The OP was talking about his progression not his absolute level of play. Sure he's young yadda yadda, but don't you think he's looking worse than he was at the beginning of the season? I'm starting to wonder if the weather really is the culprit Edit: to be clear: I agree that the people calling for him to be fired are pretty stupid sounding. Can't afford to give up... yet.
Fuck your selective memory. Its not 2 losses - he hasnt moved the team for over a month, and is 5 plays from losing 5 of the last 6. Take off the rose colored glasses
I think he should be cut in the offseason..... The sad thing is I really think Mark is a good person. He's worked hard to become a good player, but he just doesn't have it in him.
Rex was just saying how he thought about pulling Sanchez today (and against Buffalo, but that's obviously a different situation).
Not defending Schotty but there was no run game to speak of. Pretty much all phases of the Jets offense failed miserably today.
For whatever reason it seems like they want to put him in difficult positions time after time after time. It's not been my inclination to criticise Schottenheimer before now because every support of every team that struggles on offense hates their OC, but some of the calls are just ludicrous. Sanchez under pressure, ok let's have three guys on deep routes, one guy behind the line of scrimmage and one guy running around like a halfwit not knowing whether it's a run or a pass and watching the ball bounce off his face. Run of incompletions? OK, let's have a 1 yard dump-off on 2nd & 18 to get momentum. That'll help. How about some running to take the pressure off? Let's go to the staple diet of 2-yard carries into a crowd. That'll draw them into the box. There's no imagination. There's fake imagination in plays that are unnecessarily elaborate for no advantage, but nothing that both confuses the defense and goes for a lot of yards. Nobody cares if they're outsmarted on a 3 yard gain. Then there's the drops. Cotchery dropped a couple, LT had a bad one and the Holmes TD changed the game. We would have won that game handily if we were able to put up 7 there. Chances are we go in tied at 10 and go on to win easily. But, no. Penalties? Talk about putting a guy in tough situations. Needs to be cleaned up further yet. That said, Mark is doing things that bother me as well. There are far too many passes batted down at the line. His accuracy on intermediate routes across the middle is not consistent, his timing routes are often out and there are too many plays where he and the receivers are not on the same page. Now it may be that they are making the wrong reads, but he needs to be keeping them back after practise and working on these things until they never, ever happen again. The coaches need to save this season to restore his confidence and avoid stalling his progress.
Ok, now that's just crazy talk. If The Ghost gets several years, The Sanchize gets at least that especially if he keeps having an occasional Elway style comeback or shows anything at all.
Is anyone else amazed that an Al Dorrow thread made it to 3 pages with some actual serious discussion?
I'm not trying to question a mods decisions or try and tell you what to do or anything....but I think if you checked his posts you could see that he's an obvious troll.
ONE "R" in the last name, dude. And it's because I'm an interesting guy with interesting thoughts. Try it sometime......CatTo
The Ghost can be hidden. He wasn't costing us game... If we stick with Sanchez for another several years we set the franchise back several years. Someone already said... You can tell pretty quickly whether or not a QB has it or not... It's obvious Sanchez is not good enough. I'm not a troll either... I'm just a realist... Kyle Orton would be a good move....
