I think Sanchez knows who it was, which is why he said that. It's probably someone not even on the roster anymore.
Its great for sanchini to stick up for himself. He may have been "coddled" but he can't just let them poke and prod him. I have never been a big fan of Sanchez and I will buy a Sanchez jersey when he wins a sb. He is a quarterback and a leader, not a post. Sanchez was near on. Man up or shut your ass up.
Don't pull a muscle while you're straining to make this fit with your pre-determined notions about Sanchez. Right, clearly, those guys had no other recourse than to anonymously slam him in the press. What are they supposed to do? Discuss their problems when he's present? That just doesn't happen!
Where was all this bravado before he got the extension? The idea that anyone on the roster is "scared" of Mark Sanchez is rediculous. All of a sudden, he's Mark Sanchez, tough guy and leader of the Jets. His extension says so but his play on the field has to confirm it. Calling some unnamed people that don't like you "gutless" while you kept your mouth shut and stayed off the radar since the season until he got his contract extension is "gutless" as well. He should have been out front when all this shit was hot instead of waiting until now to come out like he's ready to kick somebody's ass. This just proves that this team does too much talking without anything to back it up with. No wonder quality FA's don't want any part of the circus that is the NYJ's.
feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but Mark didnt speak to the media right after the Manish article. So he never got a chance to put this out there then. And again, we have NO idea what actually takes place in the locker room, which guys take charge, and which guys are real leaders. Maybe Sanchez is, maybe he isn't. Just because it isnt said in the media doesnt mean he isnt a real leader. In fact if he wants to be a real leader, he shouldnt let it into the media, it should stay far away from there.
My only problem with this post is that he DID let it into the media, and through an exclusive report via the official site. The fact that it was the official site makes me think more and more that the anonymous source that did the most talking was Burress.
could well have been burress. I pegged him as a guy who most of the season didnt care much for the way things worked internally. He said the right things in the media, but never actually appeared happy with anything.
I did think it was pretty hokey when he was originally coming to the team and he had all of these quotes in the media: Totally reformed behavior. Volunteering with children to keep firearms out of their reach. All this bullshit. It came off to me like a disingenuous guy that had been caught with his hand in the cookie jar so now he's going to pretend to make his life look like something out of a book that his biggest detractors would write about themselves. Just dollop on the morals bullshit until the stupid people actually believe you on some level. Anyway it wouldn't surprise me much if he ended up being the culprit for a fair portion of the stuff that got said that shouldn't have been. He certainly fits the profile.
Doesnt mean he's not a changed person, and for all we know, he didnt say a peep to the media. I'm just assuming his outward want to get the fuck out of here for philly has been expressed in the media in other 'anonymous ways'
The actual quote was something like: "I never think of that except when people ask me questions about it." The word "gutless" was also suggested by the interviewer; Sanchez agreed. As for the whole little scandal, please bear in mind that Mark was named the starter way before he was ready. That means you had twenty one starters being judged by one set of rules, and one being mollycoddled. That was fine as long as the Jets were winning; not so much when they lost, especially for certain one-year rentals and coaches on the way out who needed to prove someone else was to blame, and that they were working in a terrible environment.
