Question for the Old-time Jet fans:

Outside of two decent seasons out of Johnny Johnson and maybe Baker for a bit, have we EVER had a true receiving TE?

I've been drafting Keller in fantasy football every year since his rookie year. This year it's finally paying off.

Rich Caster was drafted as a WR, but played TE for the Jets from 1972 through 1976 (before going back to WR in 1977). He was definitely a receiving TE, averaging 17.8 yards per reception, and a very good one (made the Pro Bowl in 1972, 1974, and 1975). Unfortunately, he didn't have great hands, which probably prevented him from being a great one.

Mickey Shuler caught a lot of passes in the 80s, also a great blocker, I'm not sure how you define a "true receiving TE". A lot of his success was due to the fact that teams had to cover Wesley Walker and Al Toon at WR and we had Freeman McNeil and Jonny Hector in the running game, but Shuler has to be high on the list of all-time receptions for a Jets TE, I'd think.
