whats the point of everyone rave reviews in the middle of june? the same thing as his complaints absolutely nothing. there are many of us who feel it was a terrible selection just like many feel it was a great selection. no need to be such a douche because someone has a different opinion.
I wasn't the one being a douche. The guy that I quoted was complaining about Mark Sanchez signing early because he wants to be in camp to compete for the starting job. Who did you want? Let me guess, Mike Crabtree? A slow system receiver with an oversized ego and mediocre-at-best hands. Of course he's going to get rave reviews. He's done absolutely everything right so far. The typical high selected quarterback would hold out until the middle of training camp. I've watched Mark Sanchez's career since he was a senior in high school - the guy is the real deal. Sorry I'm excited that my favorite team selected a potential franchise quarterback.
you can go right ahead and be excited. just dont call people whiners when they dont happen to agree with you. i am sorry my team is now sitting under a total of 49 million in guarantees over the next 4-5 years. (dont forget we gave gholston 21 mill guaranteed last year.) for a couple guys i personally dont see adding to the team. sorry you see him as a franchise i see him as far less. sure he may end up being a decent qb but i dont want that much money tied up in a decent qb.
alleycat9 you are definitely seeing the glass half full. If Gholston and Sanchez don't produce soon, then the franchise could potentially be set back for years as Sanchez is looked at to be the man around here. Just as it is unjustified to give the rookie praise and Gholston to be callled a bust (both premature, though Gholston was non existent) it is equally off base to complain about guaranteed money when nothing has been done to earn it yet. These season has yet to start. If you are this upset now, I hate to see you react if Sanchez has a bad game.
BTW, I think this is terrific news if for nothing else Mark can continue his progression learning the offense. I was just thinking to myself today how much it would have sucked after OTAs to hear Sanchez was a holdout for TC. Now it is a non issue, a good thing no matter how you slice it.
because he did not agree witht he selection, he has nothing else to go on besides him not agreeing with the pick. I just do not see the point in complaining about sanchez until he plays. What we gave up to move up to 5 to get him was a steal, i thought all would have come to grips with this by now. he WILL be our qb so everyone might as well get behind him and hope he does well.
Just heard the news. Good to hear Sanchez is signed and I cannot believe that contract? Are you kidding me? The Jets just keep getting the hook up ever since Rex Ryan got here. Awesome job on the signing and the contract Tanny!
Good to see him signed so early. This allows the team to move ahead on other up comming contracts. I love it! Good job Tanny.

Whats kind of crazy about this is that considering the guaranteed money that Sanchez is getting imagine how much curry is going to make, I wouldnt be shocked if he got 35+ million, thats crazy even Gholstons guaranteed 20 mil is kinda crazy especially considering his lack of production last season
Good job by Tanny. The cardinal mistake of rookie qb's is not getting them signed on time. Jamarcus Russell and Akili Smith being the two cautionary tales that immediately come to mind. I think it also speaks volumes on how the cs thinks he's ready to play now.
I'm happy! At the end of the day you would pay a franchise QB around 10-14 mill a year... I'm happy to be on the "cheap" side of those figures... now let's see how much we give Greene and then let's concetrate on Mangold and Leon...
One question... just looking up on nyjetscap.com... what is the rookie allotment (which is given at 3'429'442 $)? Thank you
