Rare that first round picks are ever overpaid in relation to the people around them..usually they are slotted..they get more than the guy below them and less than the guy above them..what makes this unique is few of the others have signed yet so the Jets may have just made the market for this year.

    Per the daily news:

The New York Daily News reports the deal is for five years, with $28 million in guarantees. That would make him the highest-paid player in Jets history.

Why wait to see what the guys get in front of him? If Aaron Curry signs a ridiculous deal with the Seahawks, Sanchez will ask for more because he's a quarterback.

The deal is done - hopefully for five or six years. Mark Sanchez is the future of the New York Jets.

If it is 5 years with $28 mil in guarantees, I'm ok with that. I'm glad it got done, this was something that has been on my mind for a while and now we can focus on Leon and Mangold.

    WAY TO GO TANNY!!

How much did stafford get guaranteed? Just wondering, I know the number was outrageous...

as for Sanchez getting the most ever for a Jet, its pretty understandable considering they haven't drafted a QB in rd 1 in the top 10 in over 20 years. With inflation, and the cap increases it only makes sense that he would be the highest paid Jet ever

thats not that bad considering he's a QB and a top 5 pick.

    Good job Tanny.

i dont think its a bad deal at all. compared to staffords and the fact that he can be a better qb then stafford i think it is very fair

I think Shonn Greene will be next and Leon Washington will get a new deal with whatever's left over.

    +1

Mangold is much more important...especially with a rookie quarterback coming in.

Also, Mangold is the better player. He's proved that he is one of the best centers in the league.

Sanchez is the man. Already signed. This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Not even that expensive either.

Nobody ever knows because no one can predict the future. Underpaid or Overpaid.... I'm just proud of Tanny for getting it done for now and let's get on with the business of playing some winning football.

I am glad people are on board with signing Mangold before Leon. He is much more crucial. I hope the front office feels the same.
