    Good post.

I don't think some people appreciate the fact that he had a chance to be as high profile out here as Leinart, but he avoided the "hang out with Wilmer Valderrama and Nick Lachey and bang that chick from Laguna Beach" route. Nor do they appreciate that his decision to embrace his Mexican heritage sadly rubbed some of those high profile fans the wrong way, yet he chose to do what he felt was right. Anyone casting him as a media whore is sadly mistaken.

Who knows if he'll be successful in the NFL? It's never a given. His attitude and priorities, however, really can't be questioned.

You said yourself that you knew nothing about Sanchez. No one is telling you to follow the company line. You can even disapprove of the draft choice. It's the reasoning you choose that seems a bit ridiculous.

And again, I questioned whether you were a Jet fan because of a simple misunderstanding. I apologize. Clearly, you and Raiderjoe just share some opinions. You're not the same person. Again, very sorry.

You have to trust me, we as Trojan fans and alums are exposed to our players more than any other CFB fanbase...practices are open, Coach Carroll makes sure that the players interact with fans at every opportunity. We actually know our players well.

Mark is used to living in a fishbowl, and I believe me, he learned from the Leinart hype what not to do. Even Matt's party boy reputation was blown way out of proportion...how many college players required security to get them through the crowds just to get to practice? The problem with Matt was, when he did go out, it made headlines - every time.

I've seen Mark off the field numerous times, spoken to his family...and I was fortunate enough to attend the private player's Victory Party after the Rose Bowl, the kid is polite, intelligent and focused. If Mark is not successful in the NFL, it will not be because of lack of determination and high expectations he places on himself.

You really cannot ask for any more than that.

We're going to have to disagree on Leinart. I saw him out plenty of times around LA back when he was in college. He was smarter about it than to let it get headlines every time. Especially when he was dating the LB chick, he had a knack for showing up right after the MTV cameras disappeared.

My point on Leinart had more to do with his focus on football. It's never been his top priority, even when he was at Mater Dei. From what I've been told by people close to him, that situation has gotten even worse. When you look at the success he's had without making football top priority, it's actually a bit disheartening to think of what he could have achieved by now.

And you're right about the Sanchez family. They're going to play a huge part in his success if he's able to put the pieces together, especially with Brandon moving out to NJ with him.

I have close friends that know a handful of NFL players from there time as division 1 football players that have told me basically the same thing. From what I've heard he wants to be an actor/star more than a football player. I take it with a grain of salt because it's at least 3rd party info by the time it gets to me, but what you're saying seems to match what I've been told.

Yeah, most of what I get these days comes from someone who has been one of his best friends since high school. She loves him, which is why she gets so disappointed in him. She's also never been shy about telling him that he's fucking up, but she says he frequently doesn't listen.

As I recall, Matt was not dating the LB female after he was made the starting QB at SC. Of course he partied, just not to the every other night extent that has been reported. As far as now, he is definately focused, and according to the coaches and his teammates, is the future of the Arizona Cardinals. We shall see, I think his son has helped him mature.

But, we cannot compare the two QB's because of a photo shoot, and your FO and HC knew exactly who they were drafting (at least they should know) a California boy out of USC who knows all about the fickle nature of FB fans.

It was actually after the loss to Texas in the Rose Bowl that they started dating, and at first in secret since he was still with his baby mama, but it's irrelevant. I wish I could say that I've heard the same things about Matt from the people I know that his coaches and teammates are saying, but I haven't.

You're right, though, there is no comparison between Sanchez and Leinart.

    we've been through this before.

If we drank the cool aid, we'd be agreeing with you. Thats the old Jets culture.

We have a chance at something good here, and fans are embracing it instead of shying away for fear or heartbreak again.

I hope that my fellow fans are beginning to believe in "No, Fuck You, not this time you're not"... because if we all start to believe it, maybe SOJ becomes a forgotten memory.

Well, I believe the individuals who is of the most importance to impress in his professional career are the coaches and his teammates....so I'm sure your friend has been told by Matt that the FO and his coaches have gone way out of their way to assure him he is the future of the Arizona Cardianls, and they feel that future will be very bright.

I don't believe the quiet Mr. Fitzgerald would go out of his way to suck up to a player he did not feel to have a chance to start at the QB position in the future.....unfortunately, I am not allowed to post a link because of my post count, but it is from NFL fanbase from 4/24:

Kim: Kurt re-signed, but Matt Leinart is still there. Despite all Leinart's gone through, is the mindset that he is still the quarterback of your future as well?

Fitzgerald: Oh, definitely, man. Every year he's progressing. He's getting better. Every time he came into a game last year he played strong for us, and we know Matt, when he gets his opportunity, is going to come out there and have success. I always talk to him about Steve Young. I tell him, Steve Young went to the USFL first, went to Tampa, then went to San Francisco for a few years and sat behind Joe Montana, then after six years or so he put together a phenomenal career. First-ballot Hall of Famer and I tell Matt, he's left-handed, you're left-handed, you're both great athletes. I don't see anything different.

    Kim: So he's the guy?

    Fitzgerald: He's the guy.

The Cardinals finally signed Kurt Warner to a front loaded guaranteed money contract...not the 2 year contract he wanted, with guarantees spread over two years. On the official Cardinals site, Coach Whisenhunt stated that although he wanted Kurt as a Cardinal, he had confidence in the QB personnel already on the roster. So in essence, they can cut Kurt after one season...even more telling, they made it very clear that they would not draft a QB in the last draft - and they didn't.

Whatever Matt is doing in his private life, it is not spilling over in his professional life any longer.

One last thing...Mark has the physical tools to be a great QB, only reservation is that he never proved in his 16 starts that he could carry the team on his back, something Matt proved in the middle of his first year as the starting QB at USC when he was knocked out of the game by a late hit at ASU, got pissed off and limped back in and torched the Sundevils to bring the team back from a significant deficit - he never looked back after that. I wish Mark had done the same while at USC.

The only reason people are saying you know nothing is that you don't support your arguments at all, you just make vague, half-assed boring posts like this:

Um, right, you don't know shit. You've given 4 years to Clemens and still support him, even though he hasn't proven a goddamn thing. This is a troll post.

Maybe if you actually gave respect to the forum by thinking about your posts instead of just spewing vague, generalized, unsupported nonsense, you would get some respect back. Nobody cares how caring and loving you are. Go pet a dog.

Who cares when these pics of Sanchez were taken? Before or after the draft, not really important. Especially since the majority of posters on this thread have already stated that this is no big deal and props to Sanchez for getting to hang out with lots of hot tail.

If it's no big deal then there should be no reason to have to further justify him taking these pics. It's a moot point.
