I really don't have that much of a problem with Sanchez. I admire his Play action fake and his ability to run. I meerly want to state is that Clemens has yet to be given a chance, and most people here overrate Sanchez.
He had an equal chance to start this season and with 3 years experience on Sanchez, he couldn't get it done. 3 years with the same offensive coordinator, the same personnel (give or take) and the same playbook. It was Kellen's job to lose regardless of the hype around drafting Sanchez, and he lost. Rex Ryan would have loved to have a problem like SD had with Rivers and Brees...a good problem, like having too much money. He had a chance to outperform Pennington in '08 and they had to bring in Favre. So he's actually had more of a chance than Sanchez - 2 chances to be exact. 2 valid chance to be the starter since he was literally thrown into the Mission:Impossible scenario of '07 and has not taken advantage either time.
What was supposed to be a competion for qb in 08 turned into the brett favre show. There was a 0% chance of him even competing for that job and he didn't even play in '06. The only thing people evaluate him on is his '07 season where he was constantly under pressure. If I remember correctly Sanchez threw for more yards in pre-season, but Clemens had a higher comp. percentage. IMHO comp% and td/int ratio is much more important than yrds and qb rating.
They did have an open competition in 08 and Clemens threw 100 INTs in camp and couldn't beat out Chad's popsicle stick of an arm. So they traded for Favre halfway through the preseason. Then there was an open competition this year and Clemens couldn't beat out a rookie with 1 year of starting experience in college. Maybe if they had brought in a blind homeless man with no arms, Clemens could have won an open competition. He looked terrible in the preseason. He lost. To a rookie. End of story.
Numbers don't mean shit when you are actually looking at the guy play. 'Haters'. It's such an idiotic term.
Are you kidding me? If Clemens had 8th 10 int you would be in an uproar. In fact if i remember correctly everyone wanted to bench Chad when he had the same amount of td's as int's. The fact is no matter what Sanchez does or doesn't do you guys will see him as superior to any other guy on our roster.
Ainge was mentioned.... wow. Anyone who can't look at Clemens and understand he's not starting material is lying to themselves. He is no different from John Beck.
yeah we should start saying Total TDs and add those rather than putting up the passing TDs only. he technically has more TDs than INTs right now.
Clemens is in his third year, and started alot more games in college than Sanchez and until last week had more NFL experience. Clemens has more experience in this system and should be better than a rookie in his first year in a new offense with new players he has never even practiced with until this summer. The comparison is not logical in my view, nice try though.
No way. I am a true Jets fan who wants them to win, but I think that Sanchez starting right now is the wrong play. As soon as I disagree you all jump on me like I am some kind of heretic.
not any other guy on the roster. I know that Nick Mangold is better than Sanchez. but to Defend Clemens and not agree that Sanchez is doing very well for a rookie makes absolutely no sense. I don't get why people continue to want Clemens to become something. Get over it.
They would have traded for Favre regardless, and Clemens didn't look "horrible" this preseason. Honestly, he didn't look any worse than Sanchez. He had some bad luck and higher expectations, so Sanchez won out. At that point there really wasn't any reason to start him over Sanchez so the decision made perfect sense. Now can we just let this discussion die? It's been beaten to death a hundred times and no one is going to change their fucking mind. Just fucking drop it. Please.
