He was a low effort player that wanted to pad stats that could possibly land him a new contract. Dude didn't give a shit unless he was in the red zone. I'm glad he's unemployed.
On top of that we got him in the backend of his career, fucking useless between the 20s, ran slower than some if the tightends in the league.
Not to take away from what you said, but I think the entire reason he was useless between the 20s was that he didn't consider it a meaningful effort? Plax knew that touchdowns were money for receivers, what he didn't realize was that no effort anywhere else was detrimental for a lazy receiver who just got out of prison.
My point was his effort was terrible and his physical gifts disappeared when he signed with us besides his god given Height.
Frankly though, I don't know how much of a blame I can place on Plax. He was actually very effective between 20s on certain routes. To name a few, he was very effective on comebacks, skinny posts, digs and of course, back shoulder fade. As you can see, none of these routes are YAC routes - not when Plax was running it, at least. These routes allow Plax to use his frame to shield the trajectory and make catch. Since he can't use these routes all the time [they are all single-move routes after all] he learned to utilize sluggo route. [You know, that very route he ran to beat Pats on their first SB win.] By now, it should be obvious [it was obvious to everybody in that regard] that Plax at that stage of his career is not a burner. You can't put him on a 9 route or option routes like 'Corner on bump' or 'post on MOFO.' And while I remember Jets using Plax for these routes a certain times, I also remember the Jets O putting Plax on YAC routes like slants. [Either Plax would jump up and fall down for a gain of 5, or worse things would happen especially when the defense reads it. Either way, Plax rarely ran after the catch, if at all.] My point is, I can get that people blame Plax for giving chicken shit effort - he wasn't much of a blocker for instance. I do agree with that assessment. But to put the entire 'ineffectiveness' blame solely on Plax doesn't seem right. After all, Jets were trying to use Plax in Braylon's role, where he was an ill fit.
You seem pretty sure that he was dependable in between the 20s, I don't remember that. I remember a guy that held and cheap shotted and ran sorry routes. I guess we have different memories? I'm not saying the guy was primarily to blame, far from it, but he was a dirtbag unless he was in position to score. Sometimes he caught a ball, but like you said, he went down like a sack immediately. The guy thought he knew where his bread was buttered. Turned out that he had no bread at all. He didn't run clean routes and the lazy ones he ran were not worth throwing at. He only out energy into the money routes. And that money didn't pay off.
No. I remember the same thing as you do. Plax just couldn't get sufficient separation on his own on a consistent basis. [Which is precisely why we both saw a sorry WR that had to hold, cheap-shot and etc.] I am simply saying, that didn't have to be that way all the time. There were quite a few ways to put him to an effective use, but Jets offense didn't do that all that much either. And yes. I absolutely hated how he'd put on another gear when Jets were within striking distance, but take plays off between 20's. He was a fucking douchebag without a doubt. Very well - these discussions would have been rather moot, if T-Bomb instead held on to Braylon.
sancho couldve really helped things out a bit today in san fran for the pheagles. nah he does his best work on the bench. no pick 6s today though!
He played awful yesterday. Cutler and Drew Stanton played so much better than Foles did against the 49ers. He did take a beating to, I was suprised he didnt get injured in that game. We will see.
