Interesting twitter out there that MM prefers Smith over Sanchez. "Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 11h From Total Access: I'm told if OC Marty Mornhinweg has a vote in the QB competition, his vote is for Geno Smith… even if Sanchez is healthy Expand " https://twitter.com/RapSheet No way to confirm that of course unless MM actually comes out and says it publicly, but that's unlikely either way. But, and this is a big booty but, if true Sanchez is done in New York.
It would also be a kick in the pants, if true, to a couple Sanchez supporters who claimed MM would be Sanchez's savior.
The simple fact is this, another season with Sanchez as QB will be a losing season..The Jets have 3 other QBS, pick one to start, my choice would be Simms, he has played the best out of the other 3 QBS,, If you don't want to start a rookie then start McElroy,,,JUST DONT START SANCHEZ !!!
i have said this time and time again in this thread. i even went and looked up some statistics and it he was woeful in comparison to other qbs. in both throws behind the los and throws 1 - 10 yards. these are the types of things you look at when judging a qb, not afc divisional round playoff championships.
Just a guess but looking at where Sanchez was grabbing his shoulder after the Marvin Austin hit it didn't look good. And to that end, why aren't we getting more specific, DAILY updates .... updates regarding a QUARTERBACK no less? What exactly is wrong with Sanchez' shoulder besides it being "bruised?" And leading into the opening game, you'd think if they're not ready to announcer a starter like they've been saying, why wouldn't they want to give BOTH QBs practice reps? Not being a darksider, again just a guess, but something tells me that Mark Sanchez is maybe more injured then they're letting on.
If you read you'd see that there was an "If true" attached to it. However, Geno is Idzik's guy, Sanchez on the field has been a deer in headlights in panic mode and Geno has the tool sets that MM tends to prefer in a QB. So it wouldn't surprise in the slightest if it were true.
yes! thank you! like i have said for 800 pages... if you are forced to play sanchez, its best to limit his throws, and when he does throw, make them high risk high reward passes. asking him to throw 6-8 short passes per drive is idiotic, since it woint be long before he turns it over, and the 7 yard gains arent worth the picks
The problem with that plan is statically Sanchez gets much worse on any pass that is in the air longer than 15 yards. he has one of the worst deep balls in the league. His arm is weak. his stats also drop in passes outside the hashmarks. He is a QB that is limited to throwing slants, over the middle and short passes. Asking him to do any more is simply making him worse and just handing the ball to the defense.
Are you kidding me? Of course he and Rex and Idzik read these forums everyday to learn where they went wrong and how to make better decisions in the future.
I've never been a Sanchez fan. The problem does not just fall on MS shoulders. The offense has deteriorated over the past two years. We have an average OL, below average RBs and WRs. The lack of talent makes Sanchez look worse. He's not good but he also does not suck. If the parts around him were better he would be better. I don't think he'll every win the Super Bowl but he could be a 9-7, 10-6 QB with the proper tools around him. Just look at the first two years.
I agree. Sad part is a lot of fans think any QB can come in and dethrone Sanchez because he sucks so bad. But that's not the case. The team sucks so bad gives everyone the illusion it's the QB fault. Then they are surprised when Sanchez out performs all the QBs in practice.
Sanchez has always throughout his career been a bottom tier QB, bottom tier being bottom 1/4 to 1/5th of the league. He's had some good moments sure, but even in his "good" years the bad plays far outweighed the good ones. His play almost cost the Jets a playoff birth in 2009, you could argue he cost the Jets a chance at home field in 2010, you can argue very well that his play kept the Jets from being 9-7 or 10-6 in 2011 and making the playoffs. Last year you can argue very successfully that his play kept the team from being 8-8 (last years roster was not a playoff roster). I don't expect Geno to be lights out this season, I expect rookie mistakes. But at least those rookie mistakes will be made by an actual rookie and not a veteran of several years.
Really? Holy hell, I must've missed and misread the reports... But that'd also explain why in the pre-season action Sanchez looked revamped and nothing like the 'saINTchez' we've gotten to know over the years... oh wait... ****
Sanchez sucks. Whether it's completely missing wide open receivers, failing to hit receivers in stride, or repeatedly committing inexcusable turnovers, Sanchez has earned his pathetic reputation. "A lot of fans think any QB can come in and dethrone Sanchez" because a lot of fans watch other NFL games from time to time, and thus, actually have some semblance of an idea of what a competent NFL quarterback looks like.
