I never quote myself but this basically sums up where I am with Mark Sanchez at this point. This wasn't the drive that ended in the pick in the red zone. This was the other drive where Sanchez just didn't look like an NFL QB. He missed a wide open receiver in the end zone on one play, a guy standing right in front of him hopping up and down and begging for the ball. He threw a crappy pass on another play and then he ran out the clock for the opposing defense. I mean AYFKM? There are a bunch of guys who can throw a perfect pass now and then. There are only a handful who can look inept repeatedly in NFL competition. Why only a handful? Because most of the guys capable of being repeatedly inept are not given the opportunity to do so. This is on the Jets, not Sanchez. It's the Jets ineptitude in managing the QB position that has allowed this farce to drag out for 4+ years now. I understand that Sanchez has flashed the potential to be a good NFL QB at many times in his career. What I also understand is that he does not have the mentality of an NFL QB at this point. He's foolhardy with the ball. He makes bad decisions on a regular basis. He makes bad throws on a regular basis. He plays scared under pressure. He gives up under extreme duress and just hands the ball to the other team with badly advised throws. The crowd at MetLife understands all these things. That's why they cheered the throwaway the other night. Nobody gets cheered for just doing the simple things right. The only time that happens is when doing the simple things right is the exception not the rule. Predictably the next play was a red zone interception. Enough. We know Sanchez is a bad NFL QB. Almost every metric backs that up and the eye test more than confirms the metrics. It's time to move on. Hanging with Sanchez right now means hanging alongside him.
There's no doubt about it, the offensive looks much better as well but 2 games in and 2 awful mental mistakes. I am rooting for him, I want him to win this and I want him to take off but he never will making those types of mental mistakes.
I think you're confusing the offense looking beyter with Sanchez looking better. 2 things are obvious. 1) the offensive system and play calling is much better 2) sanchez is the same exact guy as he always was
Ah yes, because Sanchez totally doesn't have anything to do with the offense looking better. I forgot that if Sanchez has success it's always the players around him or coaches, and when he sucks it's always completely his fault. I forgot that was most fans' mantra, my bad.
Rather than this pointless response, why don't you explain to us with some detail what part of Sanchez's game has improved over last year? What were his negatives coming into the year and how has he improved on or eliminated those negatives?
Mark does not look better, in all actuality it's the offensive scheme that looks better. Mark is still throwing into double and triple coverage (he did several times on the first drive). He got lucky plenty of times on Saturday night. He's still not throwing WRs / TEs open - he's telegraphing passes and he's not reading the defense. I think this is the end of the road for him. Those that are thinking he played good are out of their minds.
We did this wrong. We should have made a Sanchez Sucks thread and another Sanchez is a Good QB thread and then prohibited people from making pro-Sanchez posts in the first thread and anti-Sanchez posts in the second one. For most of us that would have knocked about 50 posts off of our overall count. For a couple it would have obliterated 500-1000.
I wonder if any other team forums have threads like this that have gotten this big.. Can't wait till Geno takes over throws for 3500 yards 27 TD 9 INT and we close those thread forever..
Remember Ryan Lindley? He really is the worst. Haha. Edit: Double post. I don't know how that happened.
I gotcha. Thanks. I was afraid it was because he kept praising Sanchez too much. If so....."Go Geno!"
It will move to the NFL forum when some team wants to prove how WE couldn't get the best out of him. Following year he will be flipping bugers with Big Vern
The beauty of the split thread approach would have been in the predictable line up to bash Sanchez after each of his bad games. Instead of turning into "he's bad!" "no, he isn't because Peyton Manning sucks in the playoffs" ad nauseum we'd have gotten each of of the negative posters making a post or two to vent on how bad Sanchez was in that particular game. That's the purpose of the Sanchez Sucks thread, it's there to let people vent when he's been sucking again. So now the defenders of Mark Sanchez go make a post or two in the Sanchez is a Good QB thread and everybody can ignore it because the last thing they want to have interrupt their venting is an idiot talking about how Sanchez doesn't really suck because <insert good QB here> actually is worse than him on 3rd and 23 under the full moon when an asteroid is flying by somewhere between the Earth and the Moon. End of problem. The defenders get to make a few posts each week which nobody looks at and the outraged fans get to vent.
