We were going against arguably the worst defensive team in the NFL last night. Sanchez didnt prove anything to me
He was not "mediocre/good" in 2009 and 2010, he was dog shit. He was so dumb that he had to wear a color coded wrist band to avoid making the same stupid mistakes he's making now. He had 1 good game in the playoffs and was otherwise total dog shit and did everything he could to lose the games for us. Shottenheimer and Sporano were terrible coaches, but nearly as bad as Muck.
I just realized that ESPN uses QBR as their term for Quarterback rating, I have been referring to Quarterback Rating used by the NFL which logically would be abbreviated as QBR=QuarterBack Rating....so I see the confusion in terminology there, however since the numbers I was using DID NOT correspond to the ESPN total Quarterback rating, which for some reason they call QBR instead of TQBR, but instead correspond to the NFL's QB rating. by comparing the numbers you'll see that in no way was I using ESPN's QBR, even though technicially it would be more accurate than the severely flawed NFL QB Rating, as the number in ESPN's system is dramatically lower than anything I quoted. So my bad on abbreviated terminology, but the information was correct, I'm just guilty of using the incorrect acronym.
I take the same performance you saw and I give Sanchez a C- or so. After the opening drive he was 10/20 for 111 and an Int. He had a red zone pick in that mix and some questionable decision making. Nothing that we saw after the opening drive suggests that Sanchez is an NFL QB. It was Kellen Clemens incarnate after that.
Jaguars are definitely not the worst Defensive team in the NFL. They aren't good but there are worse teams.
Can we call them the pre-season rated worst team in the the NFL? Every 2014 mock I see them with the #1 pick.
Thats because their O is hot poo as well. I think Oakland will take the number 1 pick this season though. They are a hot mess. Jaguars are by no means good either so it wouldn't surprise me if they end up being a 2 win team.
Outside of two very good drives, he has been pretty horrible this preseason. Again, all he seems to have proven is that he is very inconsistent. Those 2 drives where he was very good, he was throwing to wide open receivers with 3-5 seconds of clean pocket. I will give him the benefit of the doubt on those and say he was very good on them though- he did nothing wrong and took what the defense gave him. I severely question his ability to perform when things break down or if he's blitzed or even reading coverages. As Bradway said, he looks squirrely when he scrambles and just not comfortable when he doesnt have a 100% clean pocket. He seems like he is making many of the same mistakes (ball placement, interceptions, pump faking, wrong reads) and that is what is worrisome. Worst part of it all, is that he had a chance the last two weeks to solidify his starting spot and take hold of what he believes he deserves. IMO, he only added more question marks to the "competition" debate. He has left the Jets in a shitty spot. He at times can be very good (those two famous drives where he looked like an actual starting QB) and then for pretty much the rest of his time on the field, he looked incompetent. All in all, I have no confidence in him as out starter. He had a chance to change that, but that slipped away with a subpar performance vs a very bad team.
They have some talent on offense. Could be better than expected. Blackmon, Shorts, Ace Sanders, MJD, Denard "shoelace" Robinson and Marcedes Lewis isn't too bad if you ask me. Id take that over what we have any day. They also have Joeckel and Monroe. Their defense though is pretty atrocious.
39 throws. 10 for 20 plus. 27(30) points last night, when all he had to do was be a game manager. Tell me...who has played better, Sanchez, or the vaunted Jets defense? And its the second live action, in the third offense in 3 years. Which...to any reasonable person counts, and its the second time Winslow, tje late comer was involved in a pick play, Coincedence..,given Sanchez history, not an unfair inference. But the offense hasnt looked this good, since Martin was in the backfield. System, matters.
A guy that puts 25% of his tosses for 20 plays yards, and puts up 30, in 3 qtrs...obviously...has been horrid. And, Geno cant beat this guy out. He must really suck.
You're really using mock drafts as an indication of how a team will do? And preseason ratings? We always see a team climb out of the basement after people who tout themselves as experts use the status of that team from the previous season to justify it. After what I saw yesterday, the Jags are far from the bottom of the barrel.
You mean 6 of 20 plus. Dont skew the numbers buddy. And if it wasnt for an absolute beauty of a shoe string catch by Braylon on a horrible throw, it would be 5. Winslow catch and run for 24. Kerley catch and run for 24. Cumberland 26 yard TD. Cumberland 23 yard TD. Braylon for 26 on a horrible pass. Rueland for 31. The offense has looked bad outside of two drives which involved 4 of those 6 20 plus yard plays. Just sayin, but 3 of those passes were to receivers that were open by at least 5 yards. They have proved nothing yet. Still a ton of question marks.
he proved nothing? I thought mark proved he is going to be the same guy we have seen the last 4 seasons. the question now is do you dance with the devil you know or take the risk with the one you don't?
Hey...calm down. You're preaching to the choir. I may be the worse singer in the choir, but I realize the situation. If you read before reacting, I said that Sanchez had a chance to shut his critics up. He didn't. In his 1st two games, he had a pick6 and a red zone int. Those ain't good punts. He was under center for like the equivalent of one complete game, and had two costly interceptions. You happy with that? How does that factor into the "system"? Neither of his performances so far have managed to impress anybody...including his coach.
He put up 10 points in the first quarter with great field position- starting above their 40. 1st drive was good by Sanchez. 2nd drive was all Powell on a 37 yard run that pushed them into field goal range. Drive was killed by a bad pass by Sanchez. Second quarter, Jets start at Jax 44. The Jets drive up the field (Sanchez completes 1 pass for 11 yards) and then the drive is ended on a Sanchez INT in which we come up with no points. Then the Jets recover the ball later on at the 3 and fail to get points. Third quarter, Jets put up 17 points from 2 TDs due to the run game. Sanchez didnt even attempt a pass in the redzone on both of these scoring drives. Coincidence? And one of the drives started at Jax 4 yard line. Not like the Offense had to do much. So yeah, you can stick with your 10 plays of 20 plus yards and 30 point bullshit argument Hobbes.
